Ok, this is a general strat I've found to be very successful when playing in
multiplayer. 

Firstly you need to race to build gargoyles. There are certain maps that favor this strategy because if you can get a second mine early enough you can very quickly become the dominant force in the game. 

     Your partner needs to concentrate on building ground forces, 2 barracks and and a bunch of pig farms (from the orc perspective). While they quickly build a large force you advance through your tech tree and start pumping out the gargoyles. 

     Your partner needs to make an early-ish attack, since they are your distraction you need to have some gargoyles ready. 

     Usually your opponent will town teleport in with his troops to out number your
ally. this is when your move in and pick off his archers (since he probably wont have flyers at this point). you take them down while your partner soaks up the beating and eventually you'll gain the upper hand. 

     The other option is to get your partner to attack at a different base, as he lures the opponents away you get to work on destroying the other players peon's/ goldmine. 

Your partner may well get wiped out but that's why its important that he has large numbers instead of advanced troops. 

either way you hit the opponent where it hurts picking off his hero's in support and killing their anti flyer units. 

Its a gamble but one that often swings the tide of a game.
