Strategier Orc Kodo
Rush
1.03 - May be valid in
higher versions
The Orc Horde contain some of the most powerful units and heroes. One of
the most interesting of the Orc units is the Kodo beast.
The Kodo beast bears a war drum into battle, that increases the attack
of all friendly units within its aura radius. Aside from that, the Kodo
beast is able to devour an enemy unit (unless your beast dies before it
finishes to digest).
The Kodo beast requires a Fortress to produce them, so the Kodo beast
"rush" is actually a "quick attack" that occurs
sometime during the mid-game. An important thing to remember is that the
Kodo beast is used to make your units become extremely cost effective,
and can also be used to take out big units in an important battle.
The build order starts like this:
1) put 2 peons on gold, while queuing up 3 peons in your Great Hall.
2) make 1 starting peon construct a pig farm, and another one to
construct a barracks.
3) the first three peons that you make should go to gold immediately.
4) when your farm finishes, make a hero. Use a farseer on most
situations, as his chain lightning is very useful early game.
5) put the peon that made the farm on wood, and when the barracks is
done, put that peon to make a lumber mill.
6) make 2 grunts.
7) once your farseer is finished, get him and the two grunts to go creep
hunting. While this is happening make a couple more peons to gather wood
and to make another farm.
8) upgrade to stronghold asap at this point.
While your stronghold is building, make another barrack while pumping
out grunts (headhunters when ur lumber mill finishes) and making farms
when necessary. Once the lumber mill is done, upgrade headhunter's
weapon.
Key things at this point:
-always have at least 5 peons on gold. 6 peons mine about 60 more
gold/min than 5 peons. Have about 4 peons on wood
-scout! this enables you to know what your enemy is doing.
-continously make troops (1:3 ratio of grunts to head hunters) and farm
if you have the money to spare
-expand if you have beaten back an opponent's attack without too much
damage, or if you are pressuring your opponent
Once the stronghold is done, make an altar and
tech to fortress
asap. There's really no point to stay in the orc stronghold stage of
tech. While the stronghold is upgrading, make a bestiary and another
barrack if you have the money. Get a forge as well if you need catapults
for the coming battle (always get catapults against undead). Keep
upgrading headhunter's attack.
When the fortress is finished immediately make 1 Kodo beast! make 1 more
if you have a big army...but two is all you ever need!
Kodo beast's aura works very well with grunt's berserk and headhunters.
Combined wit your farseer's chain lightning, the headhunters will make
short work of any units. Use your Kodo beast (s) to devour the targets
that have the most hps (or does the most
dmg). It is important to keep your Kodo alive, as the wardrum aura is
vital to your attack. Get a tauren totem pole once you have the cash in
order to make
taurens. Taurens + tauren chief + headhunters + Farseer + Kodo beast is
a force to be reckoned with!!!
Key things at this point:
-macroing while you attack is very important. For this purpose, hotkey
your barracks and bestiary with numbers from 6 - 0 (click the building
and hit Ctrl+"a number"). When your troops fall, immediately
make more. This way, when your attack troops get beaten back, you will
have a fresh batch of troops ready to attack.
-During the late game, you may opt to go pure headhunters.
-Try to stay away from having a high upkeep, this considerably slows
your economy.
-expand expand expand. If you have your opponent on the defensive, take
advantage!
-get the tauren chief when you have enough money
The Kodo beast rush is best performed in team games (2v2). 1v1, you have
to be careful, in case your opponent rushes you (Elemental, Force of
Nature, huntresses, crypt fiends, etc.)
Remember to upgrade your troops, and take map control. This is important
in any game. If you are able to achieve an offensive momentum with the
Orcs, you will win!
Good luck and have fun!
