The Unforgettable Fire 5. People Get Ready Source : April 4, 1987. Tempe, AZ. State University Activity Center Sound Quality : Good to very good audience. Comments: This bootleg features the second show on the first leg of the Joshua Tree Tour. Subsequently most new songs (back then!) sound somewhat different than the live versions later in the tour. "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" was played very early in the show (2nd song), without a speech by Bono. However, Bono talks about the influence American music had on their music during the intro of "A Sort Of Homecoming". "Maggie Farm" makes a rather unexpected appearance. U2 only played it live during the few first shows of this tour and on some other special occasions, like "Self Aid" in 1986. "Bad" is quite long and includes snippets from "John, I'm Only Dancing", "Goodbye Ruby Tuesday", "Sympathy For The Devil", "Candle In The Wind" and "Take A Walk On The Wild Side". Maybe the most special song is "With Or Without You", which is performed live for the first time ever, as indicated by Bono. "We'll shine like stars" and snippets of "Love Will Tear Us Apart" appear at the end of the song. "New Year's Day" is the first track on the second disc and there are no noticeable edits, so I assume it was played that night. However, Pimm Jal doesn't mention the song in his "U2 Live" book. Before "Pride (In The Name Of Love)" Bono talks about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and why April 4 is such a special day for America and the world. Bono introduces "People Get Ready" as an old American song and invites the crowd to sing along. Unfortunately most people in the audience don't know the words. During the song Bono thanks the crowd and talks about TIME Magazine, which will have U2 on the cover soon afterwards.
