The year 1999 will certainly be remembered by the polo fraternity in the UAE for the tremendous success the sport witnessed. The outstanding achievements both on and off the fields in the 1999 has ushered in a new era in the sport of Polo.

It was in 1999 that a team from Ghantoot Racing and Polo Club won the 15th Cartier Polo World Cup On Snow, held in St.Mortiz, Switzerland.

It was in 1999 that the UAE won the Arab Polo Championship after the revival of the Pan Arab Polo Federation.

It was also in 1999 that the Ghantoot team won the Coupe Du Marquis de Sosa in France.

In the same year Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club inaugurated four new polo grounds in its quest to provide more facilities to improve and spread the game amongst the UAE's youngsters.

All these success stories and achievements go to prove that the UAE Polo is on the right path towards progress and improvement. The success achieved also increases the club's responsibility to preserve, maintain and continue these victories and to look forward for more achievements.

This impressive track record achieved by Ghantoot has been a direct result of the continuous support of His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the President and His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and their belief that sports has a major role in molding the country's youth and enables them to perform their future roles in building their country.

We seize this opportunity to extend our thanks and gratitude to all those who helped Ghantoot Racing and Polo Club to be what it is today- a venue buzzing with activity. We appreciate the efforts of all those who helped to achieve this success during the season and we are also thankful to our sponsors for their kind and generous support.

With this tremendous success behind us, let us now look forward for a brighter future for the game. My best wishes.

Falah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan
