It was the largest town in the whole of Arabia , confirmed by recent archeological finds of Roman Relics back to the pre christian times (210 B.C.). It has retained its fishing crafts and image of an arabian heritage. It has the largest natural sea water lagoon in the gulf area , where birds migrating between the north and african continent stop over and rest . Some birds like the Flamingos even choose to stay on among the attractive green island . It also has an attractive aquarium with local fish.
