A Magazine of Understanding United Church of God – Redlands & San Diego January 7, 2005 Dear Good News Subscribers, As this letter comes to your door, the world finds itself in times of incredible tension. Since “9/11,” our nation has seemingly been unable to catch its collective breath. We all are increasingly deluged with an incredibly growing list of problems such as international terrorism, the war in Iraq, nuclear tensions throughout Asia from Iran to Korea, the recent horrific tsunami catastrophe in the Indian Ocean, and every day crime and violence that faces us on the home front. Increasingly, it seems like more than any one of us, alone, can handle! At times, we are left with a powerful question—“where in the world is God?” Even more importantly, does He truly have a plan for our time and age? Does the Bible truly speak to the human condition in the 21 st century? You need to know! And yes, you need to know that you are not alone to face such challenges. As subscribers of The Good News Magazine, you have come to expect a reasonable and responsible explanation regarding the very real prophetic events that lie ahead. Not simply “hair-raising speculation,” but sound biblical understanding. You may not be aware that the United Church of God also publishes a secondary magazine entitled World News and Prophecy, the primary focus of which is offering perspective on current events in the light of bible prophecy. Like The Good News Magazine, the World News and Prophecy publication is absolutely free to the public with no follow-up solicitation for donations. All you have to do to receive your own free personal subscription is call 1-800-55-UNITE or go to our home page at www.ucg.org . The good news is you don't have to wait for the magazine to come to your doorstep. Our combined congregations are hosting a “World News and Prophecy Seminar” on January 29th, in Temecula. The speakers, all members of the magazine's editorial staff, will be Darris McNeely, Melvin Rhodes, and myself. We will address many of the issues that directly may affect you and the lives of your loved ones---not only today, but in the future. We look forward to your attendance on January 29 th at 11 a.m. A complete list of topics, times and location are enclosed. Please note: our seminar is on Saturday. Following the example of Jesus Christ and the Apostles, the United Church of God meets on the seventh day of the week. The first two presentations will be given in a modified church service format. Please be assured no collection will be taken up. After the first two presentations, there will be a lunch recess, before the start of the afternoon sessions. I look forward to meeting you in person. Yes, it is time for good news! Sincerely, Robin S. Webber, Pastor United Church of God – Redlands & San Diego Voice: (951) 679-4676 www.ucgredlands.org and/or www.ucgsd.net e-mail: Robin_Webber@ucg.org
