BUMP

Overview

The Bump is the process by which a new member is able to select his/her permanent room or an old member is able to change his/her room. A similar process is carried out for parking.

Bump

This is the process by which a new member is able to select his/her permanent room or an old member is able to change his/her room. Bump is conducted the second or third week of each quarter. (Please look for postings in HHH during these times for specific information). On this day, new members and those old members who wish to change their rooms, gather in the cafeteria where each member will be called upon to select his/her room according to his/her seniority. Members may also try to improve their chances, by teaming up with senior co-opers to obtain a double or suite of their choice (e.g. if you team up with a member who has been living here for one year, then, you will both have an average of six months seniority each). This event is solely organized by the membership council, and they entertain questions regarding this process during the week of this event.

Parking Bump

A similar process is carried out for parking, though it is only for the individual member. Please note that any member needs to be in good standing to be able to bump with the required seniority. ÒGood standingÓ means that a co-oper is not rent delinquent and did not miss more than two chore shifts at the time of bump (payment of fines may not be substituted for work). All parking spots are issued based on seniority and members would need to possess and provide proof of (each quarter) valid registration to maintain such a spot. Any spot obtained via the waitlist in the accounting office would need to be secured through Bump as well during the next Bump the following quarter.

Please note, all parking assignments, whether obtained through bump or through the waitlist, are subject to continued member eligibility. As such, should a member be rent delinquent or chore deficient at anytime during the quarter, he/she will loose all parking privileges as per detailed/required by the rules and policies of the UCHA.
