History ------- -> Version .10 - 08-11-00 Screen captures were taken of the Navigator 3 nav-buttons. The underlying button structure was created. Gave the "Url Box" down to its own toolbar and updated the view menu to reflect this. Shifted the status bar around in an effort to give it a more Nav3-like layout. Spent some time skinning the look of the pull-down menus. Removed that ugly "Search" button. -> Version .10a - 08-20-00 Wow, those xul changes broke the modern skin more badly than I thought they would. Did some work on patching the modern skin back together, so it wouldn't look quite as bad. Fixed a minor glitch on the status bar. Replaced the "ub-history button", with one that pops up a histroy menu that's similar to the one that appears in the "Go" pull-down menu. This was done as an effort to replace some of the lost functionality from when I killed the "dropmarkers" on the forward and back buttons. -> Version .20 - 08-23-00 Did a rewrite of the xul changes. This should make it a little less preditory towards other skins. As a result it took a lot less work to "fix up" the modern skin this time around. Cut a couple of chains of inheritance in Navigator directory. This should pay off in the long-run. Reskinned the Nav-Buttons. As a result, they look much closer to the originals. -> Version .20a - 08-27-00 Skinned the Personal toolbar buttons, and disabled the home and bookmark buttons. -> Version .30 09-08-00 Many changes happened in Mozilla's skin since Milestone 17. Parts of my my package needed to modified, some of it was redone from scratch. Finally got an xpi installer working. Since a lot of changes to the "new modern" skin are still in progress, no "fixedup" version of the modern skin was provided with this package. -> Version .30a 09-18-00 More changes to Mozilla broke my package. Patched it back together, for now. -> Version .40 10-29-00 Finally got around to making a Milestone 18 compatible version. Basically I brought everything up to date, as well as re-vamping the way I implemented the Navigation buttons. The "dropmarkers" on the forward and back buttons are back, as well. I plan on adding an "images" button as soon as the Mozilla folks get the "load images" feature implemented. -> Version .80 02-25-01 Finally, I repeat, Finally, got around to updating this thing to be compatible with Mozilla 0.8 The functionality is mostly the same. The underlying structure is a little bit different, though. I made a completely new image set for the Navigation Buttons. This will make a future "pictures-only" version possible. Netscape 3-style security icons were added as well. In addition, the installer now includes copies of dereg.xpi and rereg.xpi and places them in the chrome directory. This will make undoing, and redoing the XUL changes much easier when people want to try out different themes. -> Version .80po 02-25-01 The "pictures-only" version is complete. -> Version .82 04-22-01 (20010421200) Haven't had much time to work on Mozilla lately, so this one was a rush job. There is no installer, (it probably wouldn't work anyway on the current builds). At this time no pictures only version, either (maybe if I get some time later) -> Verion .899 05-05-01 (20010504077 .9 Candidate Build) After a lot of weeping and gnashing of teeth I managed to get something that was actually compatible with Mozilla's jar installer. Had to completely revamp the directory stucture and write one master contents.rdf file. This would've been trivial if I had proper documentation or another theme to learn from. The former will never happen. The latter didn't happen because x.themes.org was having a few glitches related to their move to a different server. Luckily the Mozilla developers haven't done anything in the past two weeks to bust my chrome/theme. The chrome and skin files that I used are virually identical to what I used in .82 The downside to all of this is that the friggen thing is harder to install. The upside is that it's far easier to get rid of, if a person want's to uninstall it. Since the install process is all-together different, and since my webpage has been showing its age, I ended up rewriting large swaths of it. -> Version .90 05-29-01 With milestone .91 still a few weeks out in the future, I decided to experiment with some ideas on the .899 files. Then I noticed a proposed patch, on bugzilla, to fix bug #22056. After adding the proposed patches to Ultra Classic, I found that it worked great. Not knowing if any of this would work properly on .91, I decided that this warranted a release right away. Since bug #22056 has been patched, the "images / text / images and text" pref is working. To try it out, go into preferences / appearance and pick the "radio-button" of your choice. Made a number of changes to the user interface, as well. The scrollbars are now slightly larger, giving them a look similar to the way they would look if this were a "native windows" app. To make the UI look more classic-like, I removed the "grippies", and removed the line that separates the url-toolbar from the personal-toolbar. The status-bar, and the personal-toolbar's buttons were changed, as well, to give them a more Netscape3-like appearance. Found a better way to align the personal toolbar, and then re-aligned all of the toolbars. I kept the "dropmarkers" on the back and forward buttons. Not that I find them useful, but some people do. As in the past I stuck with the smaller Communicator4-like dropmarkers instead of the big, ugly ones used in the Classic theme and in ie5, (borrowing code from the Modern theme, believe it or not) but moved the dropmarkers to the top of the buttons in order to make them "less annoying". -> Version .92 07-02-01 Unfortunately the patch for Bug #22056 which I used in Ultra Classic .90 is not compatible with later versions of Mozilla. Because of this, the patch was left out of this release. The online/offline icon was replaced with a "Netscape Navigator wheel" icon. I mapped it to the function that pops open a new browser window. Found a way to eliminate that annoying "Netscape Search" thingy that always pops up when you enter a url. Now nothing pops out of the url textbox, unless "autocomplete" is enabled. Note: With "autocomplete" enabled, the "Netscape Search" thing is back. Other than the changes noted above, the "look and feel" of this release is nearly identical to what was achieved in Ultra Classic .90 -> Version .92a 07-05-01 Not long after I released .92, an updated patch was posted on Bugzilla to fix Bug #22056. This patch has been incorporated into Ultra Classic .92a So, the "pictures / text / pictures and text" pref is once again working. Also fixed a couple of minor display glitches. -> Version .93 08-12-01 Ultra Classic has been updated for better compatibiliy with the 0.9.3 Milestone. The bookmark-button's icon was replaced with one that looks a little better. The url-bar's drop-down window no longer takes up the full width of the screen. Other than that .93 should act and look like the previous release. -> Version .97 02-04-02 A long overdue update. Since the bugzilla patch no longer works with newer versions of Mozilla the fix for Bug #22056 is not included in this release. The back and forward buttons no longer have dropmarkers on them. Right-clicking on those buttons still works, though. The "Find" and "Open" buttons can now be enabled/disabled under Edit->Preferences->Navigator -> Version .98 03-04-02 Despite the fact that this version of Ultra Classic contains no new features, most of Ultra Classic had to (once again) be rewritten. The Mozilla developers changed a lot of stuff, under the hood, since the previous milestone. -> Version .99 03-15-02 Didn't have to reinvent the entire wheel this time, so things went a lot quicker and easier. Early development using a 0.9.9 candidate build didn't hurt either. A slightly modified version of the new Bugzilla patch has been incorporated into Ultra Classic .99 to fix bug #22056. As a result, the "pictures / text / pictures and text" pref is once again working. -> Version 1.0RC3 06-02-02 Same funtionality as last time. Brought the files up to date as we await an offical version 1.0 release of Mozilla. -> Version 1.0 06-29-02 In celebration of an actual V1.0 release of Mozilla, Ultra Classic 1.0 has been put together as a full-app theme/chrome. Made Nav-3 style icon sets for Messenger, Composer, and Chatzilla. Whenever possible these icons were taken from screen captures of Netscape 3. The remaining icons were painted by hand. A "Find" button was added to Composer and Messenger. A "Previous" button was added to Messenger. The "Component Bar" can now be disabled in Messenger/Composer/Chatzilla. Several misc display tweaks were added for a cleaner, more consistant layout. -> Version 1.21 12-26-02 This version is also a full-app theme/chrome. Fixed some display problems with mail-message-compose. Cleaned up the Navigator icon-set. The extra bugzilla 22056-fix code is no longer needed, since this bug no longer exists. -> Version 1.3 Beta 02-12-03 Similar funtionality as before. Files brought up to date. In Mozilla 1.3 Beta, clicking in the blank space on the URL-bar no longer highlights the entire URL-bar. This annoying feature is disabled in Ultra Classic 1.3 Beta's comm.jar -> Version 1.3c 02-13-03 It didn't take long to find out that Mozilla 1.3 Beta was a colossal disaster. Ultra Classic 1.3 Beta was pulled, then Ultra Classic 1.3c was released using known a good nighly build (#2003013108). Same functionality as before. -> Version 1.3f 03-19-03 Same functionality as before. Only a couple of files had to be brought up to date. The rest was useable as-is. -> Version 1.4 07-28-03 Added icons on the main toolbar in Composer for cut/copy/paste. Added a taskbar-cookie icon to Navigator. Fixed the align and insert menubuttons in Composer. The previous and find buttons that Ultra Classic adds to "Mail & News" can now be disabled. Brought everything else up to date, as usual. -> Version 1.7 08-15-04 No new features. Brought everything up to date and maybe fixed a few bugs along the way. -> Version 1.77 04-18-05 No new features. No changes to the theme portion. Changes in 1.7 applied to the .jar files in Mozilla 1.7.7 to fix compatibility problems. Fixed bug in Mail/News: when composing a message, the "security" button was to the right of the animated mozilla icon.
