THE CAST AND CHARACTERS
Erick is the president of the EWBL. He along with the Allegra’s started the league in 1999. Last Year: Erick was named the league M.V.P. He was also apart of the Blue Sloth’s who captured the first playoff championship. Erick was also apart of the Labor Day tourney champ team (Team Serious), and back-to-back Thanksgiving Championships (HHNB). Erick is a very dangerous left handed bat with power and speed to get on base, he is also is one of the most dominated pitchers in the league
Anthony Allegra is another dominant figure in the EWBL. He helped start the league back in 1999. Last Year; Ant won the best power-hitting award by hitting 33 homers. He also was teamed up with John, Zach, and Erick to win the first annual EWBL playoffs. Anthony is considered by many to be the best bat the EWBL has to offer. He also has been a solid pitcher, and an excellent fielder. Overall, Ant is one of the top players in the league year in and year out.
Art Allegra, along with his brothers are the backbone of the EWBL. He has been responsible for starting this great league. Last Year; Art had another solid year both pitching and hitting. He hit 22 HR and had a .430 average. Art was third in the league with strikeouts. Art still holds an EWBL record of a 2.80 era in season one. Along with his brother he is another player that is the whole package. He can hit, pitch, field and run.
Adam Zylberman came into the league in the summer of 2003. His presence was felt as he helped team Girth rebound and win the first EWBL regular season crown. He has now been a very important figure in decision making in the EWBL. Last Year; Adam was second in the league with a .494 batting average. He led the league with 9 triples and hit 18 home runs. He was apart of the Hard Hitting New Britain Tandem two years in a row that captured the championship both years. Adam used his speed to beat out many infield hits last year, a good left handed lead off hitter.
John Allegra has been part of the EWBL since the beginning. Last Year: John won the playoff MVP by helping lead his team (The Blue Sloth’s) to the championship. John also was named clutch hitter of the year. John is a very good hitter, especially in clutch situations. He hit the homerun in the 18th inning of the “best game” ever in the EWBL to give his team the victory. John also is the only EWBL member to be suspended from Lally Field, after an incident that included hedge clippers. John Allegra is the president of fundraising operations and hopes to raise some money this year. He is overall a top player in the EWBL
Eric Senger is the lone member of the EWBL to play in the EWL. He has brought energy, speed and plate discipline to the EWBL. He had over 50 walks last year, and was awarded with the On Base Man award. He also helped the Blue Sloth’s to the championship, and was apart of HHNBII. Eric is a player you want on your team; he is a great fielder, and a great lead-off hitter. Eric was also named as one of the four EWBL All-Stars last year.If you’re looking for power, look elsewhere, but if your looking for a great team-player that will get the job done, nobody is better then ESENG.
Phil Maychek was second by one vote in the Rookie of the Year last year. He is a very promising young player that has all the aspects an MVP of the EWBL needs. Phil can hit for average and power, is already an elite pitcher in the EWBL, and also can field well. Many people this year have Phil slated in to challenge for the MVP. Phil will be feared by hitters and pitchers this year.
Zach is another young talented player in the EWBL. His fielding skills won him the Golden Hands award last year. He hit for a good average, and played great in the field. His pitching career is not one to talk about but Zach is a very solid player overall. He was third in the Rookie of the Year voting last year, and is looking to have a great sophomore season this year.
Kiel Miller was the EWBL rookie of the year last year. He hit for power and average and also was a good pitcher. He was second in the points ranking last year. He won the Midseason bash MVP, by winning both the home run derby and one on one tournament. Miller was named to the all playoff team last year. Kiel is a great power hitting, setting a EWBL record for homers in a single game. Kiel compares very well to the Red Sox’s David Ortiz, a great hitter, but not the strongest fielder in the league. Kiel looks to put up a better record in pitching this year and continue his home run hitting.
