UCSB Recruitment
Recruitment is an opportunity for you to meet the women that make up the largest single organization at UCSB, The Greek System. During these few days you will become aquainted with the individual houses and the entire Greek System. Sororities are looking for women from all different backgrounds with different aspirations for the future. A process of mutual selection is used to help you find the sorority where you will get the most of your collegiate experience. This is an exciting week of new experiences, new memories and new friends that will carry with you through your years here at UCSB and for the rest of your life.

Recruitment 2002 Dates:
Mid-July: Recruitment Applications mailed to all incoming Freshman, Sophomores and Transfer Students.
Monday, September 23rd, 2002: Recruitment Orientation, 7 PM, Isla Vista Theatre.
Tuesday, September 24th - Day 1 of Formal Recruitment, visit all eleven chapters.
Wednesday, September 25th - House Tour Day
Thursday, September 26th - Theme Day. Please note that the times listed in the mailed brochure are incorrect. Theme day will actually last from 6pm to 10pm
Friday, September 27th - Preference Night
Saturday, September 28th - Bid Day

Recruiment and COB Eligibility
All full-time, registered UCSB women with a cummulative GPA of at least 2.0 may participate in formal recruitment, however some sororities have a general chapter GPA that is a bit higher than this.
If a woman has signed a bid card for any chapter any time during the previous year, she is ineligible to sign another until one year after the signing date. In addition, if a woman has ever at any time in her life been initiated into a chapter either at UCSB or another University, she is permanently ineligible for recruitment. If you are from another school and wish to affiliate with a chapter at UCSB, please contact the chapter directly (see the sororities page).

Joining A Sorority
UCSB only holds one formal recruitment, which is in the fall. If you are interested in joining a sorority, you need to contact the specific chapters you are interested in individually or see below for a list of houses currently recruiting.
