27 year old Wayne Roberts was born in Albuquerque and now resides in Los Lunas, New Mexico with his daughter Nasha. His profession is construction and his passion is racing.
"I've been around racing all of my life" says Wayne, "My Mom and Dad got me into racing with Dad being an official at Duke City Raceway in Albuquerque for 25 years."
Wayne's first try at racing in 1986 was a brief stint in Ronnie Bell's hobby stock. Then in 1994, Wayne purchased his first race car, a 1981 Camaro, and was involved in a bad wreck that same year. Postponing getting back in a car for a few years, Wayne was a regular in the pit area and team garages helping anyone that needed a hand to get going at the track. In 1999, Wayne returned to racing and fielded a Dirt Late Model with the UDLMA. Wayne had 3 top 5 finishes and a top 10 to help him become the UDLMA's "Rookie of the Year".
Wayne would like to give special thanks to the following people for his great first season - Gordon and Marilyn Rex, Mom and Dad, Nasha, Preston Rex, TM's Auto Body in Albuquerque, Andy Tanner, Jim Willis, and everyone else who helped this year. |
