Germany Part III

Back to the Genetic Engineering Reports
Back to Report List

Since my last report, I have not managed to obtain much reliable information from the team. No sensational reporting from the World According to Mike Dallas and few words from Karin – I’m not laying down on the job – Volker (with the notable exceptions of Hans, hands and … well something else, but I’m trying to keep a PG-13 rating on this report).

So, to the best of my ability, I shall attempt (briefly) to put some order to the events as I understand them.

The team has decided that things are too convenient and they suspect a setup. Annalee arranges to meet Daniel Boone at a restaurant the next day. When she stands him up, Karin moves in and gets him very drunk. She takes him back to her hotel room, where he promptly passes out. She removes his access badge and Annalee and Mike take it to Berlin to get a copy made.

Upon Annalee’s return to the hotel, she and Karin drag the unconscious Daniel Boone to Annalee’s room, where Annalee orders room service for two – and samples both plates. She then accuses the totally hung over and totally confused Daniel Boone of having someone else in her hotel room.

Meanwhile, (Up)Chuck is at Hilda’s place getting engaged (although (Up)Chuck seemed surprised to learn of his new pre-marital status later on), watching out for falling stars (after Hilda reveals that her first husband was killed by a meteorite), and doing something called the Booka-Bow-Wow (feel free to use your imagination on that one).

Hans returns to the hotel that evening, and Karin Booka-Bow-Wows him into agreeing to help her get into the lab.

The next day, Annalee goes to meet Daniel Boone at the lab, so she can be in the security office, on the remote chance that something goes wrong.

Hans, (Up)Chuck, and Karin-in-the-Box head off to the genetics lab in Hans’s delivery truck. They make it to the loading dock, where (Up)Chuck becomes annoyed at Hans’s refusal to help him answer the voice on the intercom in German, although he seems to manage by answering everyone with a generic mumbled sehr gut. Anyway, eventually (Up)Chuck makes it to one of the labs with Karin-in-the-Box and looks around the room. He sees two lab technicians. The man simply stares at him, however, the sight of (Up)Chuck’s large um - gun - causes the woman to begin to scream, so (Up)Chuck shoots her in the throat. In a touching tribute to Jack, (Up)Chuck binds the other technician with duct tape. (Up)Chuck then fights back the urge to make like his name as he attempts to clean up the spilled body fluids and guts from the no-longer-about-to-scream lab technician.

Meanwhile, Karin-out-of-the-Box makes her way into the hallway. Perhaps inspired by her recent um … success with Hans, she experiences unprecedented success as she loops the camera from their target room into the feed from one of the other rooms. It should be noted how momentous this occasion was: no shuriken, no crab mallet, no interruptions … due to good dice rolls or no Jack, you decide.

Karin manages to obtain the specimens and makes her way back to where (Up)Chuck is cleaning the lab. They head for the stairs, but are hampered in their stair climbing by several gates whose locks Karin has to pick.

Although there are no cameras in the stair wells, Annalee is busy trying to get the security flunkee to ignore the alarm light, while not appearing to be ignoring the alarm light. After she is certain that (Up)Chuck and Karin are on their way, she points out the obvious security breach to the slowly recovering but still confused Daniel Boone. Eventually, Annalee makes her way back to the hotel.

Karin, Hans and (Up)Chuck have an uneventful (except for the near-side trip to the police and the fistfight between (Up)Chuck and Hans that left Karin with a bruised head after Hans swerved sharply) drive to Hans’s apartment. After several incidents involving a fork, the toilet and a dead dog, the argument between the boys heats up. Karin gets a call from Mike I-have-a-plan Dallas and has to stop (Up)Chuck from killing Hans, who is apparently an integral part of the plan.

The team arranges to have Hans give Dante the specimens in front of the hotel, while Annalee and Mackezie are watching and photographing from the occult shop of (Up)Chuck’s fiancee. (Up)Chuck (who has managed to retrieve his engaged jaw from the ground) and Karin leave through the back of the hotel after the hand-off (which goes very smoothly) and meet the rest of the team at a restaurant in another town to have a we-finished-the-mission drink.

Anyway, they were correct, Dante was working on the side, but he wound up dead (in the room next to Daniel Boone). Where did they stay – the Alamo? So the team is pissed off because they will not be getting paid. ISIS is pissed off because Dante used their resources and (good) name.

What’s the team doing right now? Well, (Up)Chuck beat a hasty retreat to the States to avoid imprisonment (and anal cavity searches) at the hands of the Germans for the murder of the poor lab technician; Annalee is vigorously pursuing her transfer; Karin is vigorously pursuing Hans; Mackenzie is vigorously pursuing his story of murder in a small German town; and ISIS is beginning to vigorously pursue the mysterious Ms. Maddox.

I am simply happy that Dead Dante will no longer be calling me to complain about Annalee’s constant requests for a transfer.

And believe it or not, just about now, Paris is having a lovely holiday in Greece (see the report on Jack’s revenge).
