Woodmere UFO Sighting

I was contacted by a friend who told me about three ladies who went to Smithers, British Columbia, Canada for a days shopping. Once they had their day outing the ladies left Smithers at approx: 8:45 PM Friday night, February 1, 2002 on their way home to Houston, B.C. It was a dark and overcast night as they traveled the 45 minutes back to Houston on highway #16 heading east. After passing through the small community of Telkwa just 3 kilometers east they all noticed a "very" bright light glowing through the overcast sky. While they watched this bright light in the distance their thoughts were that it was the moon shining through, they gasped as this object poked slowly through the cloud cover descending as it drew closer in their direction.

The witnesses were traveling at a speed of 90 kilometers per hour with the glowing object coming toward them. One of the girls thought it may be a bomb or something as she remembered the world terrorist events of recent times. The glowing light dropped a head of them just above the tree tops, still moving in their direction and getting closer to the highway.

The closer the light came to them, the larger it grew in size.

As the seconds passed, all three witnesses became curious as to what this was and had slowed the car to approx: 50 kilometers per hour to get a better look. The bright light was almost above  the vehicle. The driver of the car stepped on the gas and sped up to put some distance between them and the light which now turned out to be a "huge" craft. One of the girls who was sitting in the back seat of the small car turned around and lay her back over the console between the driver and passengers seat, watching the object as it passed over the car. This witness who was looking up as it passed overhead of the vehicle said there were 7 very large, bright white lights passing overhead with 2 orange lights at either end.

Very shaken, nervous and cold running through them they headed quickly towards home as the object still continued along its way toward the Telkwa area. They mentioned that other vehicles were on the highway and had to have seen the object due to it's size and brightness. These ladies also said that a pick up truck passed them at a good rate of speed just seconds down the road after this incident.

Investigators note:

I went to interview the three ladies on Sunday night, February 3, 2002 at a friends home. While we were discussing this encounter one of them got a good case of the goose bumps. She said she was happy that she wasn't alone when this took place because she was so frightened not knowing what this object was. She also noted that if she had been alone she would never have said anything about what she witnessed due to not being believed by others.

The witnesses drew a sketch of the object which passed overhead and I will have that on my website very soon. It was similar to a boomerang in shape and a "guestimate" of size would have placed this object at about 450 feet from end to end.

I also contacted newspapers and radio stations throughout the area to see if any other witnesses to this sighting had come forward but was told no one had reported seeing any type of object that night. I also contacted the Houston RCMP asking if anyone had made a report but was told no. They did though take a report from me, asking for the names of the witnesses which I declined to give. I then contacted the Smithers RCMP Detachment asking the same question and as far as they knew nothing had been reported to them either, but the receptionist asked me if a constable could contact me to get more information on this sighting. An RCMP constable did call and I told him what I knew. He then asked me if I would give him some personal information about myself. I  agreed and the RCMP constable asked for my full name, weight, height, color of my eyes, hair color, drivers license number and my street number and mailing address  which I was happy to give to him. He told me he had already contacted the Houston RCMP detachment and the Smithers Airport Tower asking if they had any information about what was seen on February 1, 2002. The Smithers RCMP now has an open file on this case.

Update: This morning ( February 14th 2002), I checked my email and found that another good friend and excellent UFO investigator wrote telling me of a sighting which took place between January 29 & 31st of 2002  approximately 6 km east of Burns Lake, BC. So something is taking place in and around our area.

Update To The Above (January 31, 2002 sighting) - Something is taking place in our area.

Hi Brian,

I'm trying to peg down a better date on this, but the story is like this.

About 6 km east of town is the KOA campground and trailer court.  (name deleted by HBCC UFO) has a trailer in there.  He has a girlfriend in Prince George who comes down here frequently, and who was a second witness.

About 3 a.m. (name deleted by HBCC UFO) was awakened by a bright light shining in his bedroom window.  At this time, i'm not sure if his girlfriend was already awake, or if (name deleted by HBCC UFO) woke her, but he asked her if she knew what the light was.

Again, I need to get more details on this, remembering of course that he had just been awakened, but I'd like to know how long he saw the light and whether it came from above or from the side.  (name deleted by HBCC UFO) isn't too sure, and was going to ask his girlfriend.

He briefly thought it may have been a vehicle driving by, but after moving his truck to a location where he could shine the headlights in the bedroom window, he realized the illumination was totally different. He also thought a street light down the road may have flashed for a moment, but the light he saw was much brighter.

If you remember the newspaper article 'Flash! Blink! Zip!  UFO seen over Burns Lake' from the 70's, this sounds like the same situation where Francois Lake residents were awakened by a bright light.  Who knows, maybe we'll enjoy a replay of events from thirty years ago.

The above report is from a good friend and excellent UFO investigator just east of me.

Military Exercise Taken Place:

On February 7, 2002 we left Smithers Airport finally after having a flight to Vancouver cancelled the previous day due to bad weather. There was a low cloud ceiling and the Dash 8-300 aircraft was not able to make a landing. But we rebooked for Thursday, February 7, 2002 to fly out of Smithers, BC. Finally the plane landed and we boarded the aircraft. The pilot's voice came over the PA announcing that the planes wings would need to be de-icing before take off.  After all was done and we taxied out onto the runway, the pilot again made an announcentment informing all the passengers that we were going to have to make a "slight" detour from our planned flight to Vancouver, BC. His explanation was military exercises were taking place "somewhere" along our flight path.

Now knowing that two UFO sightings had just taken place in our area, I started to wonder if there was any connection to these incidents or was this just a routine practice planned in advance. I asked the stewardess what the pilot meant by this minor adjustment in the flight plan and she did ask the pilot and the answer I got was that the military can call for an exercise at anytime.

After I got  home from my brief holiday south, I made several phone calls to enquire about any military exercise taking place in and around British Columbia at the time we had left for Vancouver. I contacted the military Public Affairs at Comox which is on Vancouver Island. I was informed that this gentleman was not aware of any type of exercises taking place at or around February 7 as I was told. The Public Affairs Officer informed me that he could not understand why the pilot would mention any military exercises occurring as they like to keep a low profile and not  interfere with public transportation. I personally thought his statement a little strange.

I then contacted the Smithers Airport flight tower and asked a few questions. I enquired if they were aware of any type of military happenings taking place on the designated flight path to Vancouver from Smithers BC. They also were not aware of anything regarding this matter. But I was told by the folks at the Smithers Flight tower that there were several locations in British Columbia which the Canadian military use for low and high level flight exercises. There are two areas around Knight Inlet on the west coast and another which was mentioned was a 1000 square kilometer area around Antahim Lake here close to my area. This part of the country is east of the southern end of Tweedsmuir Park (a wilderness area).

Investigators note:

I am not stating here that there is any type of cover up, but only gathering the facts which may or may not have anything to do with these sightings early in February, 2002. We do though need to check into any and all ideas which may lead to our military knowing something about these objects (crafts) seen by a number of creditable witnesses.

Also due to the number of UFO reports I have received for 2001 there may be something taking place around the Bulkley Valley (Houston to Smithers B.C.) The total reports I have received are 6 for this area plus the two recent cases I have been working on.

Update for the February 1, 2002 sighting - Investigators note:

There has been another witness who reported seeing something large and very unusual on Friday, February 1, 2002. I just found out yesterday February 12, 2002 and I am trying to track this witness down.

This case is ongoing.

Houston Industrial Park Sighting

On Sunday, February 3, 2002 another sighting was reported to me which took place in my home town of Houston, B.C. There were two witnesses  (husband & wife). While this couple were at their residence which is above their business the wife heard a loud humming noise coming from outside. She got up to investigate, looking out a couple of windows before she noticed a very bright white object hovering above the Bulkley River just north a few hundred yards from their place of residence. She called to her husband to come and see it. They both witnessed this large bright white object shooting beams of light down towards the river hovering at tree top level. This sighting lasted approx: 30 seconds from the time it was discovered before it shot up the side of the mountain and disappeared. I was told the speed of this object was incredible to say the least. This couple told me they were going to call the Houston RCMP thinking that the object had crashed into the side of the mountain but did not as the object continued it's course up the mountain and out of sight before they knew what was going on.

Investigators Note:

I have visited the area where this craft was hovering, but have not found any trace evidence of any kind. Mind you we had about 4 inches of snow late the night of this sighting. I have also taken photos of this area for my files.

This case is ongoing.
---------------------------

Reported sightings for 2001 I have been working on:

1. Houston British Columbia, Canada, July 2001 - A fellow walks into the Houston Food Mart telling of an object hovering approx: 500 feet above a transmitting tower on Mount Harry Davis here in Houston, BC. This object was emitting sparks off the bottom side shooting down towards the transmitting tower. This sighting lasted when noted approx: 25 seconds before completely disappearing before the witnesses eyes. This witness was a hard fellow to track down, but I did finally catch up to him.

2. Houston, British Columbia, Canada, January 1999 - Snowmobilers on the Telkwa Mountain Range watched a silver/black disc shaped object hover in the distance. There was more than one witness to this sighting. Many people spend the winter months snowmobiling in the area due to the amount of snow we receive each year. One of the favorite places to go is the Telkwa Mountain Range and this is where this sighting took place. My wife and I dropped into a local restaurant for dinner one night, after finishing our meal I went to pay for it and I was asked about  the HBCC UFO logo on my jacket, and after explaining what it was  the owner went on to tell me of a sighting he had with others. He mentioned that they all watched, including a couple of tourists this silver/black disc shaped object hover in the distance. He also said it was hard to make out what this really was due to the distance away, but he did  tell me what ever it was sat and hovered for some time before vanishing completely.

3. Houston to Smithers, British Columbia, Canada, September 2001 - A man driving west towards Smithers from Houston on Highway # 16 around Grouse Mountain watched a white light streak low over the valley below him. He claims the light was white in color and very bright. The UFO sighting lasted only a few seconds.

4. Houston to Smithers, British Columbia, Canada, August 2001 - Husband and his wife watched a large white light (object) east of Telkwa. Telkwa is between Smithers and Houston. The object which was reported was of a very large size and glowing brightly. The UFO encounter lasted approx: 20 seconds before disappearing rapidly to the north.

5. Smithers, British Columbia, Canada, September 2001 - A woman who runs a cafe at the (deleted by HBCC ) mentioned to me that she witnessed a bright glowing white object about five months ago which shot across the sky, came to a complete stop, and then disappeared up and out of sight. She told me she had not mentioned this before to anyone until now when she talked to me.

6. Smithers, British Columbia, Canada, August 2001 - A security officer, person who checks out (deleted by HBCC)  told me her friends had witnessed a multi colored object hovering for a few seconds in the Smithers area, and shot off very quickly.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who may know something or seen something about the above sightings.

Thank you very much

Burnaby BC

January 30, 2002, 7:00 PM

Leaving car to enter house and looked up to 80 degrees to see 4 lights on bottom of craft plus two strobes on pos. wings. All lights were white ,two in front and two in rear but spaced further apart not including the strobes.THIS Object was traveling north.Other object was a plane for reason that it had usual colored lights and was traveling NW. THE first object was half a hand at arms length. The object could have been a plane but the light pattern seemed not common.IT was traveling about 150mph.It sounded like piston engine but could have been other object.AS I SAY I would not report this but for the fact of the light pattern of all white lights. THE object appeared to be 10,000 ft. approx. It was partially foggy at the time.

February 15, 2002, 7:36 PM

The writer has done work with the Regina Astronomical society; so my observation is not one based on lack of training. At approx. 7:36pm, an extremely bright single point-source white light similar in appearance to Venus but much brighter was seen directly north and positioned between big and little dipper: there was no movement against star field; at first sight it was at least three times brighter than Venus at its' best; but then faded out within about 20 seconds. Since this is outside the ecliptic plane I assumed it could have been: 1: A flare fired from mountains north of city, but the elevation was too high.

2: A balloon (but what made the bright light)? 3: A meteor seen head-on (but there was no motion, no arc, no directional movement) 4: A Nova (extremely rare).

5: Something military unexplained! 6: Aircraft (but again there was no motion against star field).

Vanderhoof, British Columbia

Date of First Sighting: Around the first of February 2002 ?
Early morning before daybreak (Approx: 5:30 - 6:00 AM)
Viewed Over Sinkut Mountain
Location: Approx: 13 miles east of Vanderhoof towards Prince George, BC

The two witnesses reported that the bright lights looked as if they were on a landing (meaning an area which has been logged and now clear of timber).  They reported that these lights flashed on and off repeatedly and moving around in a large area.  They both said they watched this for a long time wondering what it was  as the light was very bright and they thought it may have possibly been someone logging but it travelled in such a square area and moved very fast.   It then disappeared and started the same procedure all over again.

On February 28, 2002 near daybreak they saw the same lights again.  I asked for more precise location details and  she told me they saw the lights approximately 13 miles east out of Vanderhoof, BC heading towards Prince George on Langston Road.  Both times these lights were observed the witnesses thought they were seeing someone logging using one of the big machines as the lights were so bright. The witness told me her husband had made a call to the Forestry Services to enquire if anyone was logging in the area as it looked so strange and thinking there was an reasonable explanation to what they were seeing. The Forestry said there was no one logging at all in that area (on either occasion).

I asked the witness if she could give me some idea how high these lights may have been off the mountain.  She said the lights were off Sinkut Mountain, (and there were a few hills between the mountain) at around tree - line and "looked" actually as if the lights were going around a cut block and were not very high in the sky at all she said. She also mentioned it was quite a distance away from them.  I then asked what the color of this large, very bright light was. She asked her husband also and told me it was orangey - white in color. She went on to say again how fast these lights were moving in such a large area. They ruled out it being an aircraft due to the lights moving right around this block of land.

They also thought it could not have been a highway truck because of the height of the lights.  As she mentioned to me again, these lights would be traveling slow, then speed up and would then disappear all together. Then all of a sudden they would reappear. When it did reappear it was in a different spot in the same area. Both her and her husband found that whatever this was it did not make any logical sense to them both. They said they watched the latest lights for about 20 minutes before they completely vanished but in the earlier sighting around the first of the month they watched it for a  much longer time. She said to me it spooked her husband and this was one reason why they placed a call to the Forestry just to check whether or not  people were working in the area, but they were told no ! She did mention that they could see no shape to the lights as it was just too dark and went on again to say how bright the light was. (She said to me that the light was incredibly bright) and added  that it was moving way too fast to be an aircraft or any trucks, etc.  The witness said to me she thought it looked like it was surveying something as it kept going around this one area.

Both witnesses thought the incidents incredibly strange but had put them out of their mind until they saw the article I had placed in their local newspaper whereas they immediately telephoned to tell me of their experience.

Investigators Note: I just got off the telephone with a member of the Forestry Service in Vanderhoof to ask if there was or has been any logging or road clearing in this area where the sightings took place. he said NO !! He did say there was some bug burning operation but this was taking place down low in the valley and not close to where the lights were observed. I also asked him about the statement the witnesses made about the lights around tree-line. he again told me there would have been no logging or anything else taking place up that high. So again, another mystery.

I Would Like To Thank Both Of These Witnesses For Telling Their Story.

Telkwa, British Columbia

February 7, 2002
Time: Approx: 8:45 PM

A gentleman telephoned me from Telkwa, B.C. to report something rather strange that he and his wife watched while sitting in their hot tub outdoors. The witness said he was looking towards the east and mentioned that he wasn't quite sure what it was he saw. He explained that this thing was changing colors, really, really fast and said it was not a planet or star and wasn't anything like this and the colors were very distinct. The witness said it almost seemed like it was in the glide path the planes use to land at the Smithers Airport.  He first thought it may be a plane. About a half hour later it was still in exactly the same position when he first observed the colored lights. He went on to say an hour later the lights were exactly in the same spot and he totally ruled out this being an aircraft.

The colors were changing from red to green to blue and went on to say the lights just snapped in and out.
(or off and on). After observing them for over an hour they completely disappeared. In his words: "It was if someone blew out a candle" and the lights were gone.

Investigators Note: When I was listening to this report my first thoughts were that what they were seeing was most likely a star. "But" after these lights stayed stationary for an hour or more I ruled this out. I wish we could have gotten a picture of this. It may not have shown much but would have been interesting  anyway.

Thank you to the witness for sending along this report.

Smithers to Houston

Late 2001 0r 2002 ??? The wife says this year.
Hungry Hill - 10:00 minutes from Houston heading west.
Time: Not known
Month: Not known.

My wife and I were traveling from Smithers to Houston - I think around 2001 or 2002 (she will remember) any
ways on the way up hungry hill we saw a what appeared to be a very large craft but with very very dim lights
glowing from underneath- we watched it for a long time as we climbed hungry hill, we both agreed it could not be a plane, I remarked to my wife jokingly that the lights on the craft were so dim and he should hit his
highbeams - well just them the lights(can't remember how many) got super super bright and the craft sped
off. There were a lot of cars of the highway that night.

The fellows reply about how they ended up finding me, and what it was I did.

Seen you in the post office and noticed your jacket- did a search on google with UFO Houston and came up
with your web site. Wife says it was this year that we saw the craft. She said it had a flashing light as well as the bright white lights. She thinks red. I say it was last year we saw it - not sure though.

Vanderhoof, British Columbia

Date: First week in February ??
Time: Between 6:00 - 6:30 PM

The witness telephoned me explaining she watched an extremely bright white light just east of Vanderhoof on Surgeon Point Road. (Note: This is where I investigated the September 2001 crop circles) I mentioned that I had investigated the crop circles and she said her sighting took place 2 miles east of where I carried out the field investigation. The witness said she only observed this light for approximately a minute after she came up over a hill on Surgeon Point Road and it was there above her. After she got home the next morning she told her husband what she had seen and said it resembled an airplane coming into an airport with a bright light on. This lady said she observed it for about 200 meters before she drove behind the trees and could not see it anymore.

She then said she did not realize what she was looking at as she was too far down the road. She said now she wished she had stopped and looked at it longer.  When she got further along the road in a position where she would probably be able to see it again .. it was gone.

I asked what colour were the lights. I was told it was very bright and it looked just like an airliner's landing lights, but it had only one extremely bright white light. I also asked her if she could remember the time that this took place, and she said it was between 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.  Her impression of it was that the light was below the crest of the mountains, between  Vanderhoof in a south-westerly position.

I asked her if the Vanderhoof airport was able to take any commercial traffic, she said no because the airport does not have any runway lights for night time traffic and went on to say they are not even allowed to land due to this reason.

("Investigators Note") -   I already knew that there was no commercial traffic at the Vanderhoof airport and it is not equipped to have night landings as I had talked with Mr. Brent Miskuski back in September of 2001.  He was the gentleman who flew over and discovered the 6 new crop circles. She also mentioned that this light was too bright to be from any type of aircraft that we know of.

I have to check  to see if any helicopters were flying around the date and time frame mentioned here. This lady after telling her husband and reading my letter to the editor  said, "hey I seen that light" And of course the light disappears so quickly.

Now here is where it gets really interesting:

Just before the end of the conversation she said she was surprised no one else had phoned from Vanderhoof to report this strange very bright white light. (Investigators Note: I gave a very brief statement about the two other Vanderhoof residents who reported to me. One report was south of Prince George and the other report was spotted over Sinkut Mountain.)

After I mentioned Sinkut Mountain she said "hold the bus" ! It was either Thursday or Friday morning which would have been February 28 or March 1, 2002 there was an unusual light in that direction of Sinkut Mountain which she can see from her kitchen window. Her first thoughts were that it was just a logging truck. I asked her then what color this light was, she replied that the light was white and extremely bright. The witness actually told me she had looked at this through binoculars and it was just a pure bright white light and was there for quite some time. I then asked did this light do anything out of the norm ? She told me the light would move, then stop and was gone, but in an instant it was back where it started from.  She told me the light would zip around so quickly in that area it could not have been any aircraft or logging equipment. I asked her if she was able to remember  a time and she said approximately  5:30 a.m.

("Investigators Note"): Well I almost fell over because the other two witnesses reported the very same thing, at around the same time. This lady went on to say again that they live on a hill over looking the valley and have an uninterrupted view of Sinkut Mountain and she said it seemed to her that the light was west of Sinkut Mountain and even using binoculars she could not make out anything but a bright white light.

Keep in mind what caught my interest was when she mentioned the February 28 or March 1, 2002 sighting she watched from her kitchen. This would be "exactly" what the other two witnesses told me when they were traveling on Langston Road heading towards Prince George at approx: 5:30 - 6:00 a.m. This new sighting confirms the other couples report.

What this was is anyone's guess but I do plan to spend some time on this and see if I can come up with an explanation. I know for a fact there was "no" equipment working in the area at the time of the sightings. I did check this out. I am going to also have to rule out snowmobiles.)

Thanks To the Witness For Their Report

CANADA SIGHTINGS CONTINUE

HOUSTON, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- Brian Vike writes that numerous sightings are continuing 700 miles north of Vancouver in the great Northwest.   The most reecent took place last Friday night around 9:00 PM.  Several witnesses  watched a very "large" bright white light break through the cloud cover and descend just over tree top level.  This light (object, craft) moved along side the highway and right over top of some of the witnesses.  Last night I received the following email from some folks here in Houston, Canada.  Early this year, on Hungry Hill, my wife and I were traveling from Smithers to Houston heading west.  Only ten minutes away, we saw a what appeared to be a very large craft with very dim lights glowing from underneath.  We watched it for a long time as we climbed Hungry Hill, we both agreed it could not be a plane.  I remarked to my wife jokingly that the lights on the craft were so dim that he should hit his highbeams.  Well, just then the lights got super super bright and the craft sped off.  There were a lot of cars of the highway that night who must have seen it.  My wife said, we saw the craft this year.  The wife said it had a flashing light as well as the bright white lights.  She thinks they were red.  The witness spotted Brian in the post office and noticed his UFO Research jacket and did a search on google for HBCC, and came up with Brian's web site.

Something I found a little strange, due to my investigations, I have the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) looking into me as well as this sighting.  Why I have no idea, but boy did they ask questions about myself.  Everything from the color of my eyes, drivers license number, weight, height, color of hair, etc. I just thought that rather strange since I was not one of the witnesses to the event.  I have no idea why the heck there has been so many sighting reports this way, but there has been many.  Thanks to Brian Vike, Independent UFO Field Researcher HBCC UFO

Terrace, British Columbia

Date: March 8, 2002
Time: Between 9:00 & 10:30 p.m.

Hi My name is (deleted by HBCC UFO) and I live in Terrace. I seen your clip in our weekend paper and thought I would like to tell you my experience. I sit outside to have a cigarette and on the evening of March 8th I say the most usual circle of lights at first it was really bright and as time passed which was about 5-6 minutes the lights began to fade further in the sky and these lights were not of a plane as I see many planes fly overhead as we only live 10 minutes from the airport. It was the most set of lights I have every seen. This took place in the evening as it was very dark I would have to say it was between 9:00 p.m. and 10:30 I'm not positive of the time, now I'm always looking up at the sky because if it is what I saw I'm sure it will return. If and when it does I plan on recording the time on my calendar. I have always believed there really are UFOS but this is the first time I have seen what I believe to be a UFO.

Well I'm signing of for now and I will keep in touch if I see anymore bright lights.

Investigators Note: this is the second such report I have received from a witness who claims to have seen a circle of lights in the night sky. The other witness will have the information for me this week sometime as she lives in my town of Houston, B.C. Also I will follow this report up to see what if any other information is available.

Update: The color of lights I would have to describe them as very bright almost white in color. At first they didn't move then they did move going west. The sky was full of stars and it was very clear and cold out I believe their were 6-9 lights and when it moved they went west very slowly and seem to be going in slow motion

Kitimat, British Columbia

Date: March 5, 2002
Time: approx: 8:45 p.m.

I received this report from a family in Kitimat, B.C. This first letter from the mother explains what her son saw while they were all standing outside star gazing. The second letter is from the boy's father and gave me more detailed information.

Hello Brian,

We read the article in the Weekend Advertiser regarding HWY 16 reports of bright objects in the sky.

We live in Kitimat and on March 5th, around 8:45 p.m. we decided to go look at the stars because it was such a clear night. My husband and I were looking one way and my son (9 years old) was looking towards the north when he said he saw a bright light .with a red and orange layer going straight down from the sky.  .He described the object as having a tail. He said he didn't see it fall to the ground because it disappeared behind a tree.  I had him draw and write down what he saw.He wrote "Going down like a ball of fire. " I'm wondering if you could tell us what this could possibly be.  I believe him because he became very excited at the time.

Yours truly
(name deleted by HBCC UFO)

(letter from the father: below)

We were outside on the driveway on the north side of the house. I was gazing up to the sky over head towards the south and west trying to pick out a planet. No. We do not have a telescope. My wife, (name deleted by HBCC UFO) was looking at the star chart in the latest issue of the Star News magazine. She was more or less facing east but looking down to the magazine. We were trying to make sense of the chart with the stars above us.
You had asked about the object falling behind the tree. After asking our son some questions to find out little more about what he saw. The tree that was mentioned in my wife's message was a tree that was on the front lawn of the house across the street from the house we are living in. The tree is situated roughly north by north east of us. There is a 5,500 foot Mountain called Mt. Elizabeth about ten or fifteen miles, as the crow flies, out the town of Kitimat. It is towards the northeast of the town. It is not visible from the front lawn of our house. The aforementioned tree is roughly on the sightline in between the house and Mt. Elizabeth.
From what our son said it seemed to me that the lighted object was a little east of the tree and falling in an angle towards it. My son has no idea whether the object was falling in front of the mountain or behind it.

I hope some of this information, though not much, is of some help to you. We wish you luck in finding out what it is and hope you will let us know what our son has witnessed

Kindest regards

I would like to extend my many thanks to this family for taking the time to write and tell me of their sighting.

Terrace, British Columbia

Date: November of 2001  (Received this report in March of 2002)
Time: approx: 2:00 a.m.

Greetings.

Hi there, we read your writings in the 'News advertiser', dated March 9, 2002.

As we're living on the outskirts of Terrace and I walk my dog late at night, or maybe better to say, in the early- early morning hours.  My wife and myself have noticed many a time, strange objects flying over our skies, in the southern parts of the sky towards Kitimat, B.C. We do watch every night for more, and do see things that don't make sense, mostly when watched by the naked eye, we then observe them again inside our home with field-binoculars and observe strange designs of colors and shapes beaming towards mother earth.

In October or early November of 2001, when walking my dogs at around 2:00 a.m. in the morning, I had the biggest scare of my live yet. Now this might sound strange, and if you do not believe me, I apologize for taking your time. But on a walking trip I heard a strange woosing sound coming from the skies and when looking up, it amazed me to see the scare of my life. If you have seen the Hollywood made movie 'asteroid's then you understand what I'm saying. Out of no where this fire ball came falling down to earth, it was "BIG" and making an never before heard sound and was red glowing at the bottom side.  Yes it looked indeed like a asteroid or something like this. It came down and then just fell a part like you see with fire works when shot up in the skies,. I never found a piece of this on the ground, at least not as far as I ever heard, even my dogs were howling as they were scared like hell. When returning home, I called the local RCMP station and they answered like I was a drunk, although they had received another call like this from New Yeiyens a village about 2 hours driving north of Terrace,B.C. at around 11:00 p.m. That night also, when I told them this looked almost like it was above the town they kinda sounded like, 'yea right', nobody else had seen this object that night,. I went on the PC at home and checked all networks I could find, but non had reported a thing. How can something this big get passed our safety lines with all them satellites we have out there ?

Would like to hear from you soon, as my wife is more in sky watching as I am. But even so, we have seen many strange objects throughout the whole year that sure have 'no' airplane light etc..etc..

I thank you for your time reading this and please inform us as to what 'you' have observed in the skies also.

Thank you.

Investigators note: I received another report just like this one from Kitimat which is about 45 minutes away from the above folks. I also wrote to the above witnesses and told them that I still have to have a UFO sighting. Maybe one day. Also I talked again with this fellow and he plans to send along some drawings of what he saw, I will post these when I receive them.

I would like to thank these folks for sending along their report to me.

Terrace, British Columbia

Date: Monday, March 4, 2002
Time: approx: 5:30 - 5:45 a.m.

The witness reported to me that he is a body builder and was doing his cardio workout  the morning before heading to his place of employment.  He was looking up towards the sky and all of a sudden what seemed like a star shot across the sky and came to a complete stop.   The witness told me that whatever it was he saw did a loop in the sky and then went straight up and disappeared.

He asked me "did it actually move or am I confused or something".  I informed  him that coloured stars do not do loops in the sky !

I asked what the color of this light looked like. He went on to say it seemed like a star, but a very bright star with a blue, green red color to it. I ask how long this event took place, he said from the time he took notice of it, it lasted only about ten seconds or so. Weather conditions were clear. I asked which direction did it seem to come from. He told me the light headed from east to west but on a bit of an angle. Also he said the light stayed stationary for not more than four seconds or so.

He knew it was a strange sight he saw and I thanked him for calling in his report.

Kitwanga, British Columbia.

Date: Late February, 2002
Time: approx: Between 4:30 & 5:00 a.m.

The witness tells me he saw the bright light on Highway # 37 between 55 and 60 kilometers just north of
Kitwanga, British Columbia. He told me at the location of the sighting there is a large swampy area off to the left and through the trees, (the witness stopped to till me that there was a full moon present that early morning and thought what he was looking at was the reflection of the moon on the water).

The fellow went on to say that there was a very, very bright light in the swamp. His impression of what he saw was a gas station canopy lit up as it was so bright. He mentioned he saw the light 3 times while slowly driving down the highway in the space through the trees. The light would disappear and reappear and he had a good view of it very distinctly the second time. He described the light as an orangey - yellow in color.

I asked if he could hear any sounds coming from the area, but he mentioned he was in a logging truck and I certainly know how noisy this can be. I also asked if he could give me an idea on the size of this light. He went on to say whatever it was, was huge. I also asked if, to his knowledge,  were there any power lines or transmission towers located at the area where this was seen. He said as far as he knew there was nothing what so ever in the area. He said the bright light was stationary and did not move an inch. I asked how far the light was positioned in the sky and he said either it was sitting on the ground or just above it.

We talked for a while and he again mentioned what his impression was of this light.

Witness: Whatever it was that was making this light, he seriously thought it was similar to travelling along an empty stretch of highway and coming upon a gas station which has all its lights turned on.  A big lit up area like a canopy of a gas station.

After he arrived home he later discussed this with his wife telling her how strange this bright light seemed to be and he told me again it was very bright and glowing and how it freaked him out as there was nothing in the swamp area that he knew of.

I want to take a drive to the area, so he is going to get me the exact location so I will be able to find the spot. He told me the swamp would have been along the Cranberry River (south) before the first crossing of the highway. He mentioned the swamp would be approx: 3 to 5 kilometers south of the highway.

Kitimat British Columbia

Date: ? (waiting for a date)
Time: Somewhere between 1:40 to 3:00 a.m.

I was actually quite shocked to see that someone other than my husband and myself have see something in the sky.  At approx. 1:40 am to 3:00 am from our bedroom balcony window we have seen on  numerous occassions an bright object (light) jetting around in circles, back and forth, up and down then moving  out of sight. We are facing north from Kitimat towards Terrace.

Thank you to these witnesses for taking the time to contact me.

Couple Sees A Bright UFO In British Columbia

UFOs have been seen in recent weeks in and around Houston, British Columbia, Canada (population 3,934), a town about 700 miles (1,120 kilometers) north of the seaport city of Vancouver. "The most recent sighting took place on" Friday, February 22, 2002 around 9 p.m.  Several witnesses watched a very 'large' bright white light break through the cloud cover and descend to just over treetop level.  The light moved alongside the highway and right over the top of some of the witnesses." One witness reported, "Earlier this year, on Hungry Hill, my wife and I were travelling from Smithers to Houston, heading west.  Only ten minutes away, we saw what appeared to be a very large craft with very dim lights glowing from underneath.  We watched it for a long time as we climbed Hungry Hill.  We both agreed it could not be a
plane." "I remarked to my wife jokingly that the lights on the craft were so dim that he should hit the high-beams. Well, just then, the lights got super, super bright and the craft sped off." "There were a lot of cars on the highway that night that must have seen it." His wife "saw the craft again this year," adding that "it had flashing lights as well as the bright white lights.  She thinks the (flashing) lights were red."

Terrace, British Columbia

Date: February 1, 2002
Time: approx: 6:00 - 6:30 p.m.
Color of Object (light): Orange -Red (very large & bright)

I had a phone call from a gentleman who read the article about all the UFO sightings which have taken place over the last month and a half around our area here in northern British Columbia. The fellow was one of four witnesses to the ("object" ?) or very large bright light they all saw. He went on to explain to me that on their drive to Terrace, B.C, from Kitseguecla, B.C. on the night of February, 1, 2002 they saw an orange and red very bright light which seemed to be in the shape of a square. This light was sitting close to the top, or just below the top rim of the mountain. Their first thoughts were that this was part of the moon.

After spending approximately four hours in the Terrace area,  on the way home to Kitseguecla about half way through the drive he saw the moon on the left side of the vehicle.  He told me that what he had seen was closer to Terrace and looking nothing like the moon. I asked if he could tell me the exact location of the light.   He told me it would have been right at Usk which is approximately 20 - 25 kilometers south of Terrace, B.C. He also explained there is a little church in Usk and the object was seen at the top of the mountain on the same side as the church sits. He again explained the shape of this bright light, and mentioned  that it was as if the moon was up and some cloud was covering it to give the impression of a square.

Investigators note: There was no cloud cover at all the witness told me . I asked the witness if this light was stationary, or had any movement to it. He told me it wasn't moving for the period of time they watched it. He also said that on his return journey the light was no longer in that location.

I asked if he was able to give me an approximate size of the light.  I could hear him ask his wife, who was sitting close by, how big did she think it  was. They both said that if you looked at a good sized home and were seeing it from about 400 yards away, it seemed to be about the same dimension.

I asked at this time about the other witnesses who saw it,  and he told me that his wife, brother-n-law and sister-in-law were in the vehicle at the time.  He pointed out the bright object to them at the time and all of them said they had never seen anything like it before.   I went on to ask if there was any noise coming from  the light and he said no but that it was a fair way away from them near, or at the top of the mountain, and it could have made a noise but they were unable to hear it.

At the close of the telephone interview he again gave me his impression of what he thought this light looked like. He mentioned that it looked very glossy with the orange, red and yellow. The witness also talked about a possible faint colored band running across the face of the light. I do plan to follow this up to see if I can get any other details from the other three witnesses.

I would like to thank this witness for making a report.

Terrace,British Columbia

Date: March 8, 2002
Time: Between 10:00 & 11:00 p.m.
Color: Green & yellow

In the telephone conversation this witness said he wasn't sure if what he saw was a meteor or something else. He came out of his home and was walking down the street taking a cigarette break and looking toward the sky when he saw a green and yellow streak of light cross the sky very quickly. This sighting lasted approx: 2 seconds.  The light was traveling from east to west at the time.

Investigators Note: Of course I am not positive, but I do believe. from what the witness told me about this sighting,  that its very possibly a meteor.

I would like to thank this witness for making a report.

South Hazelton, British Columbia

Date: Approx: Between February 27 to March 1, 2002
Time: Between 10:00 - 11:00 p.m.
Color: Blue with red

The witness said she thought what she saw, may have been a plane flying overhead as she often sees them and it was coming from the west and heading east.  She also said that it seemed to be off course from what she usually sees in the flight path.   All of a sudden the object turned sharply and headed north.
The object was blue in color with a spot of red and was very high up in the sky. The sighting lasted only a few seconds.

Investigators Note: This could possibly be a jet, but whatever it was made a sharp turn to the north. This sighting is questionable.

I would like to thank this witness for making a report.

South Hazelton, British Columbia

Date: February 2001 (near the end of the month)
Time: 1:00 a.m.
Color: Transparent red

This witness reported to me something which she  still has a hard time believing.  She tells me that this object was tubular in shape, but like a triangle.

She continued our conversation by telling me that on one side of the object she could clearly see through it at the closest point to her. It almost seemed to have two separate identities, the side closest to the witness seemed to be transparent as she could the stars through it but it also had a triangular outline.

The color of the craft was red. I asked if it was bright red.  Her perception of it was that the light was a faint red and it was not very high off the ground.  (She laughed and said she almost crawled over the back fence to follow it). But as she was alone she thought it would be better not to.  She told me it flew at about tree top level very slowly and this is why she could view the object for a decent amount of time.

She returned to her home and was shaking badly ... it had really frightened her.  Her husband was sleeping and when she told him what she had seen he was not interested.

The object was heading south over other residents roof tops and appeared to be going lower and at this time she lost visual contact with it.   The witness said she believes the object would have been between 30 and 40 feet in length. She heard no sound at all and the pet (puppy) did not react to it either.

I would like to thank this witness for making a report.
