A Night To Remember Friday, February 1, 2002, Time: 9:00 PM Location: 3 Kilometers east of Telkwa, British Columbia, Canada on HYW #16 Viewing Time: approx: 90 seconds. Weather Condition: Overcast Woodmere UFO Sighting I was contacted by a friend who told me about three ladies who went to Smithers, British Columbia, Canada for a days shopping. Once they had their day outing the ladies left Smithers at approx: 8:45 PM Friday night, February 1, 2002 on their way home to Houston, B.C. It was a dark and overcast night as they traveled the 45 minutes back to Houston on highway #16 heading east. After passing through the small community of Telkwa just 3 kilometers east they all noticed a "very" bright light glowing through the overcast sky. While they watched this bright light in the distance their thoughts were that it was the moon shining through, they gasped as this object poked slowly through the cloud cover descending as it drew closer in their direction. The witnesses were traveling at a speed of 90 kilometers per hour with the glowing object coming toward them. One of the girls thought it may be a bomb or something as she remembered the world terrorist events of recent times. The glowing light dropped a head of them just above the tree tops, still moving in their direction and getting closer to the highway. The closer the light came to them, the larger it grew in size. As the seconds passed, all three witnesses became curious as to what this was and had slowed the car to approx: 50 kilometers per hour to get a better look. The bright light was almost above the vehicle. The driver of the car stepped on the gas and sped up to put some distance between them and the light which now turned out to be a "huge" craft. One of the girls who was sitting in the back seat of the small car turned around and lay her back over the console between the driver and passengers seat, watching the object as it passed over the car. This witness who was looking up as it passed overhead of the vehicle said there were 7 very large, bright white lights passing overhead with 2 orange lights at either end. Very shaken, nervous and cold running through them they headed quickly towards home as the object still continued along its way toward the Telkwa area. They mentioned that other vehicles were on the highway and had to have seen the object due to it's size and brightness. These ladies also said that a pick up truck passed them at a good rate of speed just seconds down the road after this incident. Investigators note: I went to interview the three ladies on Sunday night, February 3, 2002 at a friends home. While we were discussing this encounter one of them got a good case of the goose bumps. She said she was happy that she wasn't alone when this took place because she was so frightened not knowing what this object was. She also noted that if she had been alone she would never have said anything about what she witnessed due to not being believed by others. The witnesses drew a sketch of the object which passed overhead and I will have that on my website very soon. It was similar to a boomerang in shape and a "guestimate" of size would have placed this object at about 450 feet from end to end. I also contacted newspapers and radio stations throughout the area to see if any other witnesses to this sighting had come forward but was told no one had reported seeing any type of object that night. I also contacted the Houston RCMP asking if anyone had made a report but was told no. They did though take a report from me, asking for the names of the witnesses which I declined to give. I then contacted the Smithers RCMP Detachment asking the same question and as far as they knew nothing had been reported to them either, but the receptionist asked me if a constable could contact me to get more information on this sighting. An RCMP constable did call and I told him what I knew. He then asked me if I would give him some personal information about myself. I agreed and the RCMP constable asked for my full name, weight, height, color of my eyes, hair color, drivers license number and my street number and mailing address which I was happy to give to him. He told me he had already contacted the Houston RCMP detachment and the Smithers Airport Tower asking if they had any information about what was seen on February 1, 2002. The Smithers RCMP now has an open file on this case. Update: This morning ( February 14th 2002), I checked my email and found that another good friend and excellent UFO investigator wrote telling me of a sighting which took place between January 29 & 31st of 2002 approximately 6 km east of Burns Lake, BC. So something is taking place in and around our area. Update To The Above (January 31, 2002 sighting) - Something is taking place in our area. Hi Brian, I'm trying to peg down a better date on this, but the story is like this. About 6 km east of town is the KOA campground and trailer court. (name deleted by HBCC UFO) has a trailer in there. He has a girlfriend in Prince George who comes down here frequently, and who was a second witness. About 3 a.m. (name deleted by HBCC UFO) was awakened by a bright light shining in his bedroom window. At this time, i'm not sure if his girlfriend was already awake, or if (name deleted by HBCC UFO) woke her, but he asked her if she knew what the light was. Again, I need to get more details on this, remembering of course that he had just been awakened, but I'd like to know how long he saw the light and whether it came from above or from the side. (name deleted by HBCC UFO) isn't too sure, and was going to ask his girlfriend. He briefly thought it may have been a vehicle driving by, but after moving his truck to a location where he could shine the headlights in the bedroom window, he realized the illumination was totally different. He also thought a street light down the road may have flashed for a moment, but the light he saw was much brighter. If you remember the newspaper article 'Flash! Blink! Zip! UFO seen over Burns Lake' from the 70's, this sounds like the same situation where Francois Lake residents were awakened by a bright light. Who knows, maybe we'll enjoy a replay of events from thirty years ago. The above report is from a good friend and excellent UFO investigator just east of me. Military Exercise Taken Place: On February 7, 2002 we left Smithers Airport finally after having a flight to Vancouver cancelled the previous day due to bad weather. There was a low cloud ceiling and the Dash 8-300 aircraft was not able to make a landing. But we rebooked for Thursday, February 7, 2002 to fly out of Smithers, BC. Finally the plane landed and we boarded the aircraft. The pilot's voice came over the PA announcing that the planes wings would need to be de-icing before take off. After all was done and we taxied out onto the runway, the pilot again made an announcentment informing all the passengers that we were going to have to make a "slight" detour from our planned flight to Vancouver, BC. His explanation was military exercises were taking place "somewhere" along our flight path. Now knowing that two UFO sightings had just taken place in our area, I started to wonder if there was any connection to these incidents or was this just a routine practice planned in advance. I asked the stewardess what the pilot meant by this minor adjustment in the flight plan and she did ask the pilot and the answer I got was that the military can call for an exercise at anytime. After I got home from my brief holiday south, I made several phone calls to enquire about any military exercise taking place in and around British Columbia at the time we had left for Vancouver. I contacted the military Public Affairs at Comox which is on Vancouver Island. I was informed that this gentleman was not aware of any type of exercises taking place at or around February 7 as I was told. The Public Affairs Officer informed me that he could not understand why the pilot would mention any military exercises occurring as they like to keep a low profile and not interfere with public transportation. I personally thought his statement a little strange. I then contacted the Smithers Airport flight tower and asked a few questions. I enquired if they were aware of any type of military happenings taking place on the designated flight path to Vancouver from Smithers BC. They also were not aware of anything regarding this matter. But I was told by the folks at the Smithers Flight tower that there were several locations in British Columbia which the Canadian military use for low and high level flight exercises. There are two areas around Knight Inlet on the west coast and another which was mentioned was a 1000 square kilometer area around Antahim Lake here close to my area. This part of the country is east of the southern end of Tweedsmuir Park (a wilderness area). Investigators note: I am not stating here that there is any type of cover up, but only gathering the facts which may or may not have anything to do with these sightings early in February, 2002. We do though need to check into any and all ideas which may lead to our military knowing something about these objects (crafts) seen by a number of creditable witnesses. Also due to the number of UFO reports I have received for 2001 there may be something taking place around the Bulkley Valley (Houston to Smithers B.C.) The total reports I have received are 6 for this area plus the two recent cases I have been working on. Update for the February 1, 2002 sighting - Investigators note: There has been another witness who reported seeing something large and very unusual on Friday, February 1, 2002. I just found out yesterday February 12, 2002 and I am trying to track this witness down. This case is ongoing. -------------------------------------- Friday, February 3, 2002, Time: 7:00 PM Location: Houston, British Columbia, Canada - Industrial Park Over Bulkley River Viewing Time: approx: 30 seconds. Weather Condition: Overcast - Light Snow Flurries Houston Industrial Park Sighting On Sunday, February 3, 2002 another sighting was reported to me which took place in my home town of Houston, B.C. There were two witnesses (husband & wife). While this couple were at their residence which is above their business the wife heard a loud humming noise coming from outside. She got up to investigate, looking out a couple of windows before she noticed a very bright white object hovering above the Bulkley River just north a few hundred yards from their place of residence. She called to her husband to come and see it. They both witnessed this large bright white object shooting beams of light down towards the river hovering at tree top level. This sighting lasted approx: 30 seconds from the time it was discovered before it shot up the side of the mountain and disappeared. I was told the speed of this object was incredible to say the least. This couple told me they were going to call the Houston RCMP thinking that the object had crashed into the side of the mountain but did not as the object continued it's course up the mountain and out of sight before they knew what was going on. Investigators Note: I have visited the area where this craft was hovering, but have not found any trace evidence of any kind. Mind you we had about 4 inches of snow late the night of this sighting. I have also taken photos of this area for my files. This case is ongoing. --------------------------- Reported sightings for 2001 I have been working on: 1. Houston British Columbia, Canada, July 2001 - A fellow walks into the Houston Food Mart telling of an object hovering approx: 500 feet above a transmitting tower on Mount Harry Davis here in Houston, BC. This object was emitting sparks off the bottom side shooting down towards the transmitting tower. This sighting lasted when noted approx: 25 seconds before completely disappearing before the witnesses eyes. This witness was a hard fellow to track down, but I did finally catch up to him. 2. Houston, British Columbia, Canada, January 1999 - Snowmobilers on the Telkwa Mountain Range watched a silver/black disc shaped object hover in the distance. There was more than one witness to this sighting. Many people spend the winter months snowmobiling in the area due to the amount of snow we receive each year. One of the favorite places to go is the Telkwa Mountain Range and this is where this sighting took place. My wife and I dropped into a local restaurant for dinner one night, after finishing our meal I went to pay for it and I was asked about the HBCC UFO logo on my jacket, and after explaining what it was the owner went on to tell me of a sighting he had with others. He mentioned that they all watched, including a couple of tourists this silver/black disc shaped object hover in the distance. He also said it was hard to make out what this really was due to the distance away, but he did tell me what ever it was sat and hovered for some time before vanishing completely. 3. Houston to Smithers, British Columbia, Canada, September 2002 - A man driving west towards Smithers from Houston on Highway # 16 around Grouse Mountain watched a white light streak low over the valley below him. He claims the light was white in color and very bright. The UFO sighting lasted only a few seconds. 4. Houston to Smithers, British Columbia, Canada, August 2001 - Husband and his wife watched a large white light (object) east of Telkwa. Telkwa is between Smithers and Houston. The object which was reported was of a very large size and glowing brightly. The UFO encounter lasted approx: 20 seconds before disappearing rapidly to the north. 5. Smithers, British Columbia, Canada, September 2001 - A woman who runs a cafe at the (deleted by HBCC ) mentioned to me that she witnessed a bright glowing white object about five months ago which shot across the sky, came to a complete stop, and then disappeared up and out of sight. She told me she had not mentioned this before to anyone until now when she talked to me. 6. Smithers, British Columbia, Canada, August 2001 - A security officer, person who checks out (deleted by HBCC) told me her friends had witnessed a multi colored object hovering for a few seconds in the Smithers area, and shot off very quickly. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who may know something or seen something about the above sightings. Thank you very much HBCC UFO Research |

Below: My wife took a photo of me standing and pointing to the area where the Friday, February 1, 2002 sighting took place. (Giant UFO hovered and moved across Highway # 16 right over top of three witnesses car. Sorry about the quality of the photo, when we took the picture we were looking directly into the sun. |

The drawing below is what the witnesses draw describing what they saw. | |||||||||||||||||||||
Prince George, British Columbia Friday, February 15, 2002 - appox: 11:30 PM Three very bright lights. Below is what the witness told me in a telephoned conversation. The person phoned me long distance to give me this sighting report. Witnesses report: These folks had picked up their local newspaper (The Omineca Express) in Vanderhoof, B.C. and were reading the letter to the editor in which I had sent in, in hopes of bringing forward any other people who may have seen something strange in the night's sky over the last month or two. The husband picked up the paper and read about my request for information which brought up the subject between him and his wife which had forgotten about the lights they had seen on February 15, 2002. After reading this article she picked up the telephone and called me informing me of their sighting just outside of Prince George, B.C. We were coming back from Vancouver, B.C. heading home to Prince George, B.C. and (deleted) was sleeping in the back seat. We arrived in Prince George at around 11:30 PM on Friday, February 15, 2002. Just before a long bridge which takes you over top the Fraser River there is a long straight stretch of road which runs by the Industrial Site. The wife looked over to her right and observed three very bright lights, almost like stadium lights up on the hillside. She told me she was driving and very tired due to the long trip home, but was still looking up on the hillside wondering what was there. She also mentioned to me she drives this area a lot and knows what is around the area, etc.... Her thoughts were of a possible tower that she had not noticed before, but then passed a Van which was pulled over to the side of the Highway and people standing around the side of the road. As she watched the and getting closer to the bridge which heads into the city of Prince George she seen another vehicle stopped with it's door open and a man standing outside watching the sky. She said then she should have pulled over but after driving all day these folks were very tired. (Investigator's note: I can relate to this as I have done the same drive so many times, it is a good 9 hour drive between Prince George and Vancouver, B.C.) As she passes this fellow who is stopped watching the sky she proceeds to cross the bridge which takes her over the Fraser River and exits right off the bridge which takes you underneath the bridge as you can take another road into Vanderhoof this way instead of taking Highway # 16 west. She mentioned to me that she would have seen the lights once again after taking this other road heading home, but she said they had "vanished" and seen nothing when she should have seen these lights still at this time. I explained about the recent sightings to her briefly and she went on to say the light she seen was "really" bright and was not very high in the sky just about where a tower would be. There were three lights. Two of the lights were together and the third light was more distant than the other two. She went on to say there were just to high, and again they looked like they were stadium lights. I explained a few things to her, and how some people see aircraft lights which have their landing lights on when approaching an airport. She went on to say that these lights were stationary. And now she reflects back on this even she wishes she did stop to watch as there were others standing watching the sky also. Like she said, it was just really weird. My Many Thanks To This Witness For Making A Report Vaderhoof, British Columbia Date of First Sighting: Around the first of February 2002 ? Early morning before daybreak (Approx: 5:30 - 6:00 AM) Viewed Over Sinkut Mountain Location: Approx: 13 miles east of Vanderhoof towards Prince George, BC The two witnesses reported that the bright lights looked as if they were on a landing (meaning an area which has been logged and now clear of timber). They reported that these lights flashed on and off repeatedly and moving around in a large area. They both said they watched this for a long time wondering what it was as the light was very bright and they thought it may have possibly been someone logging but it travelled in such a square area and moved very fast. It then disappeared and started the same procedure all over again. On February 28, 2002 near daybreak they saw the same lights again. I asked for more precise location details and she told me they saw the lights approximately 13 miles east out of Vanderhoof, BC heading towards Prince George on Langston Road. Both times these lights were observed the witnesses thought they were seeing someone logging using one of the big machines as the lights were so bright. The witness told me her husband had made a call to the Forestry Services to enquire if anyone was logging in the area as it looked so strange and thinking there was an reasonable explanation to what they were seeing. The Forestry said there was no one logging at all in that area (on either occasion). I asked the witness if she could give me some idea how high these lights may have been off the mountain. She said the lights were off Sinkut Mountain, (and there were a few hills between the mountain) at around tree - line and "looked" actually as if the lights were going around a cut block and were not very high in the sky at all she said. She also mentioned it was quite a distance away from them. I then asked what the color of this large, very bright light was. She asked her husband also and told me it was orangey - white in color. She went on to say again how fast these lights were moving in such a large area. They ruled out it being an aircraft due to the lights moving right around this block of land. They also thought it could not have been a highway truck because of the height of the lights. As she mentioned to me again, these lights would be traveling slow, then speed up and would then disappear all together. Then all of a sudden they would reappear. When it did reappear it was in a different spot in the same area. Both her and her husband found that whatever this was it did not make any logical sense to them both. They said they watched the latest lights for about 20 minutes before they completely vanished but in the earlier sighting around the first of the month they watched it for a much longer time. She said to me it spooked her husband and this was one reason why they placed a call to the Forestry just to check whether or not people were working in the area, but they were told no ! She did mention that they could see no shape to the lights as it was just too dark and went on again to say how bright the light was. (She said to me that the light was incredibly bright) and added that it was moving way too fast to be an aircraft or any trucks, etc. The witness said to me she thought it looked like it was surveying something as it kept going around this one area. Both witnesses thought the incidents incredibly strange but had put them out of their mind until they saw the article I had placed in their local newspaper whereas they immediately telephoned to tell me of their experience. Investigators Note: I just got off the telephone with a member of the Forestry Service in Vanderhoof to ask if there was or has been any logging or road clearing in this area where the sightings took place. he said NO !! He did say there was some bug burning operation but this was taking place down low in the valley and not close to where the lights were observed. I also asked him about the statement the witnesses made about the lights around tree-line. he again told me there would have been no logging or anything else taking place up that high. So again, another mystery. I Would Like To Thank Both Of These Witnesses For Telling Their Story. Telkwa, British Columbia February 7, 2002 Time: Approx: 8:45 PM A gentleman telephoned me from Telkwa, B.C. to report something rather strange that he and his wife watched while sitting in their hot tub outdoors. The witness said he was looking towards the east and mentioned that he wasn't quite sure what it was he saw. He explained that this thing was changing colors, really, really fast and said it was not a planet or star and wasn't anything like this and the colors were very distinct. The witness said it almost seemed like it was in the glide path the planes use to land at the Smithers Airport. He first thought it may be a plane. About a half hour later it was still in exactly the same position when he first observed the colored lights. He went on to say an hour later the lights were exactly in the same spot and he totally ruled out this being an aircraft. The colors were changing from red to green to blue and went on to say the lights just snapped in and out. (or off and on). After observing them for over an hour they completely disappeared. In his words: "It was if someone blew out a candle" and the lights were gone. Investigators Note: When I was listening to this report my first thoughts were that what they were seeing was most likely a star. "But" after these lights stayed stationary for an hour or more I ruled this out. I wish we could have gotten a picture of this. It may not have shown much but would have been interesting anyway. Thank you to the witness for sending along this report. Smithers to Houston Late 2001 0r 2002 ??? The wife says this year. Hungry Hill - 10:00 minutes from Houston heading west. Time: Not known Month: Not known. My wife and I were traveling from Smithers to Houston - I think around 2001 or 2002 (she will remember) any ways on the way up hungry hill we saw a what appeared to be a very large craft but with very very dim lights glowing from underneath- we watched it for a long time as we climbed hungry hill, we both agreed it could not be a plane, I remarked to my wife jokingly that the lights on the craft were so dim and he should hit his highbeams - well just them the lights(can't remember how many) got super super bright and the craft sped off. There were a lot of cars of the highway that night. The fellows reply about how they ended up finding me, and what it was I did. Seen you in the post office and noticed your jacket- did a search on google with UFO Houston and came up with your web site. Wife says it was this year that we saw the craft. She said it had a flashing light as well as the bright white lights. She thinks red. I say it was last year we saw it - not sure though. My Many thanks to the witnesses for their report. Vanderhoof, British Columbia Date: First week in February ?? Time: Between 6:00 - 6:30 PM The witness telephoned me explaining she watched an extremely bright white light just east of Vanderhoof on Surgeon Point Road. (Note: This is where I investigated the September 2001 crop circles) I mentioned that I had investigated the crop circles and she said her sighting took place 2 miles east of where I carried out the field investigation. The witness said she only observed this light for approximately a minute after she came up over a hill on Surgeon Point Road and it was there above her. After she got home the next morning she told her husband what she had seen and said it resembled an airplane coming into an airport with a bright light on. This lady said she observed it for about 200 meters before she drove behind the trees and could not see it anymore. She then said she did not realize what she was looking at as she was too far down the road. She said now she wished she had stopped and looked at it longer. When she got further along the road in a position where she would probably be able to see it again .. it was gone. I asked what colour were the lights. I was told it was very bright and it looked just like an airliner's landing lights, but it had only one extremely bright white light. I also asked her if she could remember the time that this took place, and she said it was between 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Her impression of it was that the light was below the crest of the mountains, between Vanderhoof in a south-westerly position. I asked her if the Vanderhoof airport was able to take any commercial traffic, she said no because the airport does not have any runway lights for night time traffic and went on to say they are not even allowed to land due to this reason. ("Investigators Note") - I already knew that there was no commercial traffic at the Vanderhoof airport and it is not equipped to have night landings as I had talked with Mr. Brent Miskuski back in September of 2001. He was the gentleman who flew over and discovered the 6 new crop circles. She also mentioned that this light was too bright to be from any type of aircraft that we know of. I have to check to see if any helicopters were flying around the date and time frame mentioned here. This lady after telling her husband and reading my letter to the editor said, "hey I seen that light" And of course the light disappears so quickly. Now here is where it gets really interesting: Just before the end of the conversation she said she was surprised no one else had phoned from Vanderhoof to report this strange very bright white light. (Investigators Note: I gave a very brief statement about the two other Vanderhoof residents who reported to me. One report was south of Prince George and the other report was spotted over Sinkut Mountain.) After I mentioned Sinkut Mountain she said "hold the bus" ! It was either Thursday or Friday morning which would have been February 28 or March 1, 2002 there was an unusual light in that direction of Sinkut Mountain which she can see from her kitchen window. Her first thoughts were that it was just a logging truck. I asked her then what color this light was, she replied that the light was white and extremely bright. The witness actually told me she had looked at this through binoculars and it was just a pure bright white light and was there for quite some time. I then asked did this light do anything out of the norm ? She told me the light would move, then stop and was gone, but in an instant it was back where it started from. She told me the light would zip around so quickly in that area it could not have been any aircraft or logging equipment. I asked her if she was able to remember a time and she said approximately 5:30 a.m. ("Investigators Note"): Well I almost fell over because the other two witnesses reported the very same thing, at around the same time. This lady went on to say again that they live on a hill over looking the valley and have an uninterrupted view of Sinkut Mountain and she said it seemed to her that the light was west of Sinkut Mountain and even using binoculars she could not make out anything but a bright white light. Keep in mind what caught my interest was when she mentioned the February 28 or March 1, 2002 sighting she watched from her kitchen. This would be "exactly" what the other two witnesses told me when they were traveling on Langston Road heading towards Prince George at approx: 5:30 - 6:00 a.m. This new sighting confirms the other couples report. What this was is anyone's guess but I do plan to spend some time on this and see if I can come up with an explanation. I know for a fact there was "no" equipment working in the area at the time of the sightings. I did check this out. I am going to also have to rule out snowmobiles.) |
