Surname Assignment
Pick one of your ancestors. Search for his name on FamilySearch, Ancestry World Tree, MyTrees.com, Internet Family Finder, GenForum and at least two others. Summarize how many "hits" were in each, and which if any had useful information.
Now do a search at www.familytreemagazine.com/Search, checking the "all" box. What do you see different between what you did in #1 and this search? Would you recommend using SuperSearch, and if so, how and when?
My ancestor, Eudolphus M. Taylor first shows up in records in Colorado’s 1900 Census. He says he was born in New York. Using USGenWeb Archive, record his birth date, birth place, parents, and other info about him.
In #3 above, you should have seen six files. Did you look through all six files checking for the surname TAYLOR? If not, do so. What was the name of Eudolphus Taylor’s wife’s nephew who died in 1919?
