Signs Of Spring

View Coyote's pages the way they were intended to be viewed.
Break out of frames

Up and Down the Valley
A-bent to the task
Braceros, Texicans
thin and weed the
beet and beans while
those
too young for hoes,
play in dusty, field-side
roads, or sleep in canvas
covered truck beds waiting.
Mothers with short hoes
finish their rows
while
farm boys fly by in pickups
heading for town, never
seeing or caring for
signs of spring in
North Platte Valley Fields.

More money
for the Short hoe,
more pain.
