discography ][ module downloads ][ ModPlug jukebox RealAudio streams ][ mp3s and shoutcast streams okay, i'm not saying there's anything wrong with mp3s, but in the case of my music, the original mod format is a better format for downloading and listening, because it takes up less disc space, and it allows your computer to play the files raw and unaltered, in the arrangement and build that they were created as in the first place. mp3 is good, but it's straight audio. it's like the difference between a set of master tapes and a store-bought CD. there's nothing wrong with the CD, but wouldn't you love to get your hands on some of those masters? so, in that spririt, on this site i'm offering a handful of my songs, most of which you've probably never heard before, in their original module format. mp3s and streams are available at the external links above. current versions of winamp should be able to play these modules okay (if not, you may need to get the right plugins), but for the full experience (and some features specific to the format), i recommend getting ModPlug. among the many reasons for using ModPlug is the fact that you don't have to unzip the files to listen to them. finally, if you wanna go all out, download the ModPlug browser plugin, and direct a frames-enabled browser here to check out the Ugli Jukebox. i apologize for "requiring" frames and the plugin for this thing to work, but i really didn't want to start using flash and all sorts of other things that seem to be designed to slow down any computer more than 7 weeks old. tunage the first 3 tunes offered this month are from the "Room" project: Quest for Calm (phase 1) - the first part of a trilogy used as interludes on "Room". very short, very minimalist, and under 2 KB to download! Kill Your TV - with special thanks to Ned's Atomic Dustbin and Marilyn Manson (for the title, not the song itself). my unofficial anthem for TV Turnoff Week. Alley - a song with a story behind it that's too long to get into here, this is dedicated to all the stray and feral cats of the world. and these 3 are from my to/A/st TRAX era (read my bio for an explanation): Giant Leap - took a synthesized distored guitar sample from a classic C&C Music Factory song, attempted to emulate the bassline of a song i didn't really like from the South Park "Chef Aid" album, and ended up developing something that sounded like neither of the two. the NASA samples i threw in at the last minute ended up totally defining the song (and giving it its title). this one's my wife's favourite. Dirt March - honestly, i can't remember anything about the creation of this song, but it's a generic enough sound that it probably doesn't have much of a story anyway. pretty catchy tune, tho. Marshall's Kick - the bell riff was inspired by an amazing Long Beach Dub All Stars song. a drum loop, a sax riff, a trumpet riff, and a chillout attitude fill out the rest.
