I am a lawyer in Davis, California, trying to get back into practice after moving here in 1996, passing the California bar, and spending a year in Berlin, Germany (1997-98).  Before that, with my wife, Joan Cadden, I lived about 18 years in Gambier, Ohio (Kenyon College, where my wife taught history and history of science.)   I practiced law in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, 15 of those years.  We moved here because Joan got an appointment in the
history department of the University of California at Davis.

We have one child, Paul B. Cadden-Zimansky, who is 24.  He graduated from St. Johns College in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in 1997, then spent a year going around the world and the last two years studying undergraduate math and physics at UC Berkely on the cheap.  He's now planning to go to the London School of Economics in the fall for an M.A. program in philosophy of science.
