This course builds on the study of biology begun in Pre-IB Biology. Key concepts of biology will be explained within a context of unifying themes. Students will develop positive and realistic impressions of science as a process of inquiry that often involves hypothetical deductive thinking. Laboratory experiments and research investigations are emphasized. An important aspect of learning biology is participating in the process of science and developing creative and critical reasoning skills. Topics include: scientific method, chemistry of life, cytology, energy conversions and metabolism, genetics, evolution, biological diversity, taxonomy, botany, ecology, human anatomy, and physiology.

Pre-requisite:
Pre-IB Biology, Pre-IB Chemistry.
