The objectives for students following the instrumental course of study in music include being able to comment on stylistic and technical aspects of a selected range of music chosen from Western and world cultures, demonstrating a theoretical and practical knowledge of the basic rudiments and acoustics of music, demonstrating in performance and/or composition signs of creativity, imagination and originality, showing in performance technical competence and control of musical elements, showing in composition a coherence of structure and stylistic unity in an appropriate medium, demonstrating in performance interpretational and stylistic competence, showing an understanding of the aesthetic quality of the piece of music in both performance and composition, and showing an awareness of personal growth and development in music. Besides composition and performance, essay writing will be required.

Pre-Requisite:
Must have a love for music, know how to play an instrument, and how to read music.
