THIS ASSIGNMENT WILL BE CONSIDERED AS AN ELEMENT OF YOUR KNOWLEDGE & UNDERSTANDING (3 marks), YOUR THINKING & INQUIRY (7 marks), AND YOUR COMMUNICATION MARK (5 marks)

Assignment:

For this assignment, each student is to prepare a one to two page letter which ‘markets’ them to the admissions officer of the post-secondary program that they wish to attend. You are to outline why YOU should be selected to the limited program. You must research the attributes needed for this program/activity and outline why you should be chosen rather than someone else.

Evaluation:

Knowledge & Understanding considers:

Research of the necessary attributes to the program/activity?
Research the necessary academic pre-requisites
Research at least 3 post-secondary options where this program is offered
What is the expected mark to gain entrance?
Are there any supplemental items needed for admission? (portfolio,
interview, questionnaire etc...)?

Thinking & Inquiry considers:

The arguments for your selection

Is your argument unique? (Is everyone using the same argument)
Is your argument relevant?
Do you provide specific evidence which proves your arguments?

Communication considers:

The English usage and other ‘mechanics’ of the written report.

Is proper letter format used?
Is correct spelling, wording and punctuation used?
Proficiency of English grammar and sentence structure
