Bandbox are a group of music fans who hope to revive the live music scene for thoughtful, roots-based artists in and around Torbay. What does this "mission statement" mean in plain english? Well, simply that we want to see good top quality Americana, blues, country and folk acts playing in the Bay. At present that means putting on shows at The Blue Walnut in Chelston. We also would like to encourage musically sympathetic, local acts to play support to these artists.

Bandbox are proud to bring you Steve Tilston, the writer of such classic songs "The Slip Jigs and Reels", "The Naked Highwayman", and "Here's to Tom Paine", and one of the country's most accomplished guitarists (see his album Swans at Coole for further proof). Steve currently has a new 12 track album out Of Many Hands featuring Chris Parkinson, Martin Simpson, Nancy Kerr, James Fagan, Maggie Boyle, Scott Devine and Mike Hockenhull.
Born in Liverpool and raised in the Midlands, Steve has been quietly turning out quality albums since the early 70s. In the past he has toured as guitarist with Ballet Rambert, as a member of Ship of Fools, with John Renbourn, and more recently with WAZ! He is a celebrated artist both in Britain and abroad, winning accolades in Europe, Australia and the USA, where "Here's to Tom Paine," has been chosen as the theme song for the Tom Paine Society of America. His songs have been recorded by Fairport Convention, Dolores Keane, The House Band, Peter Bellamy, North Cregg, Bob Fox and many more fine artists.
Steve's website is at: www.steve-tilston.com
Support on the night comes from Colin Bache - a young singer-songwriter from Brixham who has been a regular on the local live music scene over the last couple of years.
