Dr. Donald G. Ely received his BS and MS degree from Oklahoma State University and his Ph D. from the University of Kentucky. He has been a member of the Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Kentucky since 1968. Dr. Ely has taught classes from Introductory Animal Science to Sheep Science. Along with teaching, he also advised many troubled students and serves as one of the faculty advisors for Alpha Zeta. Dr. Ely has been the recipient of many noteworthy awards the Distinguished Nutritionist Award in 1978; Distinguished Teaching Award in 1988, and he is a past president of the Southern Section of the American Society of Animal Science.
