Block and Bridle...Get Excited!
Kentucky's own Dr. Debra K. Aaron received her B.S. and M.S. degree from the University of Kentucky and her Ph D. from Oklahoma State University. She has been on the faculty on the Animal Sciences at the University of Kentucky since 1984, and held a joint appointment in statistics as well. Her main responsibilities in education include teaching statistics courses, and a senior level course Animal Science class called Capstone of Animal Agriculture. She also shows her expertise in statistics with students and faculty in the College of Agriculture. She does research involving improvements on beef and sheep production through breeding and nutrition. Dr. Aaron is induced with undergraduate advising and is a faculty advisor for Alpha Zeta. She received the UK Gamma Sigma Delta Master Teaching Award in 1989 and the Southern Section American Society of Animal Science Young Animal Scientist Education Award in 1994. Dr. Donald G. Ely received his BS and MS degree from Oklahoma State University and his Ph D. from the University of Kentucky. He has been a member of the Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Kentucky since 1968. Dr. Ely has taught classes from Introductory Animal Science to Sheep Science. Along with teaching, he also advised many troubled students and serves as one of the faculty advisors for Alpha Zeta. Dr. Ely has been the recipient of many noteworthy awards the Distinguished Nutritionist Award in 1978; Distinguished Teaching Award in 1988, and he is a past president of the Southern Section of the American Society of Animal Science. Block and Bridle just would not be the same without Dr. Donald G. Ely as one of our prestigious advisors.
