Cameron Lloyd Stone, born and raised in California, started playing the cello when he was only 3 years old. His parents were both singers in the Roger Wagner Chorale. Cameron's father, Lloyd Stone, was head of the Bureau of Music for the City of Los Angeles for twenty years. When Cameron was 13, he was given a scholarship by the American String Teachers Association to study with Dr. Shinichi Suzuki in Matsumoto, Japan. He began teaching cello at the age of 16, becoming the youngest faculty member of the Pasadena Conservatory of Music. By the time he was 18 years old, Cameron had already learned all classical literature and began experimenting with playing the cello in different modern styles. This led him to his current style of playing with effects and amplification. Cameron holds a master's degree in music from the University of Southern California.
Cameron has contributed to the works of such diverse artists as: Percy Sledge (1994 "Blue Night"), Tracy Chapman (1995 "New Beginning"), John Williams, Zubin Mehta, Henry Mancini, Depeche Mode, Guns 'n Roses, Poe (Hello featuring 1996's hit single "Angry Johnny" including a national tour), Herbie Hancock (1996 "The New Standard"), Kenny Lattimore (1996 "Kenny Lattimore"), Dru Hill, Hanson, Wailing Souls, Cypress Hill and Jewel (1998 "Spirit"). Along with collaborating with Donna on her new record and live performances, Cameron is also working with Christian artist Fernando Ortega and the group VAS, recently signed to Peter Gabriel's Real World Label.
