Yard probes Gulf war drugs claim

Scotland Yard is examining claims that the Ministry of Defence injected troops with unlicensed drugs during the Gulf War, it emerged today.

Detectives received a letter from ex-Army veteran Tony Flint detailing allegations that soldiers were injected with drugs not licensed for use in the UK, and that some veterans' medical records have been altered.

Mr Flint, 53, a co-founder of the National Gulf War Veterans and Families Association, claims he has been crippled by socalled Gulf war syndrome.

A Yard spokeswoman said: "The information is under consideration as to what, if any, offence has been committed and what, if any, further action can be taken."
