"PORVENIR 1"

The following pictures were kindly sent to us by individuals at the Oficiales Mercantes of Chile.

On the 3rd - 4th August 2005, the Chilean flagged 3,316 GT Roll on - Roll off cargo ship "PORVENIR 1 (built 1972),
got into trouble in southern Chile (850 km south of Santiago).
3 seamen out of a crew of 15 died, (Master, Chief Engineer and the 2nd mate)
Once she had run aground, the rocks made short work of the vessel.
