Heritage
Alpha Xi Delta was established in 1893 by ten young women at Lombard College in Galeburg, IL. These women had a vision of a fraternity dedicated to the ideals of personal development, friendship, scholarship, and community responsibility. AXiD went national in 1902 and became one of the organizing groups of the National Panhellenic Council. AXiD's first NPC chairwoman wrote the Panhellenic Creed soon after. Our fraternity headquarters, located in Indianapolis, IN, was established in 1964. With over 120,000 initiated members and 110 collegiate chapters, Alpha Xi Delta continues to grow. Xi Chapter of AXiD was the first sorority on UK's campus, originally established in 1908. Our chapter recolonized in fall 2001. On April 13, 2002, 48 women were initiated into AXiD and our chapter was installed. Right now, the founding members are eagerly awaiting our first rush and looking forward to getting some great new members! |
