Symbols
The Coat of Arms: Our Coat of Arms includes two griffins
supporting a shield. Three roses, the Quill, and a broken sword are pictured on the
shield. Above the shield is a knight's helmet with a blue and gold twist of ribbon and a
pink rose.
Colors: The colors of Alpha Xi Delta are double blue (dark and light) and
gold.
New Member Pin: This pin is worn by new members between
pledging and initiation.
Colony Pin: Founding members of a colony of Alpha Xi
Delta wear this pin instead of the New Member Pin. A new chapter is called a colony during
its founding period.
Quill: The Quill is our official badge and is worn by initiated members.
It represents our open motto, "The Pen is Mightier Than the Sword."
Flower: The pink rose is Alpha Xi Delta's flower.
Mascot: Alpha Xi Delta's mascot is the teddy bear, represented by BetXi
Bear (left).
Philanthropy: Our philanthropy is Choose Children, a
program that emphasizes volunteer work in any areas of childrens' need.
