Bridge of Songs was an artwork to connect with the week of work and with restoration of Stari Most foundation work was taking place toward rebuilding Stari Most as the artwork was prepared and put in place. The project represented the need to maintain the bridges we build between one another, including Stari Most, whose restoration is the inheritance of all young people in Mostar.
We are reminded of the two European catastrophic events from the last century with every conflict that takes place in Europe, and the choice we made from 1947 forward, to begin a process of drawing closer together in mutual understanding; an important thing to tell all of our children.

An exhibition with famed pieces presented a photographic record taken over 7 years, since 1994.

The Special School played host to young people from there and from primary school classes in Donja Mahala. About 80 people in all played with the models and lanterns prepared in Limerick and Mostar. People played with great gusto for 2 hours or more. One gained an understanding of the reason for the existence of toys.

A book in several languages is being prepared which will relate concisely the journeys made to Mostar.

This is a very concise presentation of what I plan for the first week of August, I believe that the language elements, along with connected aspects are in line for support. It is to be seen in the context of an European wide initiative. But I can see that it is important from the point of view of locating and activating Irish as a language in use amongst other languages. Droichead na nAmhrán - Bridge of Songs is valuable for connecting people and cultures in a place needing that its people connect with other cultures in a process of healing.
