ACT 1 - 10 - Duet - Daisy and Canoe

Daisy is distracted now that David must follow through with his offer to marry Fountain.

Canoe, ever eager to determine if Squirrel is a shaman or just a sham, provides a solution. She explains to Daisy that all she needs to do is tell the tribe that Squirrel is indeed a fake. That way it would have been impossible for him to have spelled David for her and he did not honor his contract. He must then marry Fountain himself that day, leaving David for Daisy. Daisy is over-joyed at this idea and Canoe can see her suspicions about Squirrel were correct. She's quite pleased that she's finally uncovered the truth.

Daisy:

What a wond'rous sensation,
What unbounded elation,
When a manifestation
Will allow one more chance

For a future that's brighter,
With a romance that's tighter
And I feel so much lighter
That I sing and I dance...

"Tra la la la la la la..."

Both:

Oh, the manner that follows the ring of a chance
That the person in question will sing and will dance...

"Tra la la la la la la..."

Canoe:

What an unequalled treasure,
Giving someone such pleasure
That they dance to a measure
With a gay presto spring.
Though I know it's my doing,
My sensational cueing,
That's improved on your wooing
I'll just modestly sing...

"Tra la la la la la la..."

Both:

Oh, the manner that follows the ring of a chance
That the person in question will sing and will dance...

"Tra la la la la la la..."
