Want your own search engine - here it is. PersonalSearchallows
you to create a search engine for you own site.You decide what keywordsit
should respond to and what URLs are included in the engine. I use itto
let people search my site for keywords - you cannot provide links toother
servers.
You do not need to have your own server or use cgi-scripts. All youneed to have in order to use it is a homepage. It also offers 100% control of the search abilities. This requires fromyou a little work: for every document you must specify a location(URL),a title and some keywords (keywords are not required). This informationis stored in a file, which the applet reads from. Now you have the optionof adding comments in the file. The comments will be ignored when searched.This makes it possible to easily administer large sites - eg by addingcomments for each directory. This distribution only includes a search appletto
put on your web page. The SearchMaker has been removed.
The search applet will only work in browserssupporting java 1.1 and higher (That means : Netscape Communicator 4.06and above and Internet Explorer 4.0 and above!). Read manual for information on use (this is of course included in the package). Youcan preview the applet here.
