THE BLOODY SUNDAY ENQUIRY

ON SUNDAY, JANUARY 30th 1972, SOLDIERS FROM THE 1st PARACHUTE REGIMENT SHOT DEAD 13 PEOPLE.
THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT SET UP AN INQUIRY INTO THE SHOOTINGS WHICH LATER RULED THAT THE SOLDIERS WERE NOT GUILTY OF MURDER. ON JANUARY 29th 1998, THE BRITISH PRIME MINISTER, TONY BLAIR, MADE AN ANNOUNCEMENT:
".... that a Tribunal be established for inquiring into a definite matter of urgent public importance, namely the events on Sunday 30 January 1972 which led to loss of life in connection with the procession in Londonderry on that day, taking account of any new information relevant to events on that day."
As of 31 May 2002, Northern Ireland Office funding of the Inquiry totalled £60.28 million. The current estimated cost of the Inquiry to the Northern Ireland Office is £120 million. If the Secretary of State's challenge to the Senior Costs Judge's ruling on payments to Counsel for the families is unsuccessful, that will add an estimated sum of at least £6 million to the costs.
WHEN THE INQUIRY WAS TRANSFERRED TO LONDON, IT COST ANOTHER  £15M

THE TOTAL COST OF THIS NEW INQUIRY WILL COST THE TAX PAYERS AT LEAST £141M

REPUBLICANS ARE ALSO CALLING FOR AN INDEPENDENT INQUIRY INTO THE KILLING OF A BELFAST SOLICITOR WHO HAD FAMILY LINKS WITH THE IRA

I THOUGHT GERRY ADAMS SAID FORGET THE PAST AND LETS BUILD ON THE FUTURE

AFTER ALL, THE FAMILIES OF THOSE MURDERED BY REPUBLICAN SCUM OVER THE LAST 30 YEARS HAD TO FORGET ABOUT THE PAST WHEN ALL THE TERRORISTS WERE RELEASED FROM PRISON
