Cloud Strife Guide
No one hasn't heard of Cloud Strife. He's by far the most famous of the Final Fantasy heros, and for good reason! He was by far the strongest main character ever, he had a very distinct personality, and his hair was really, really funky. Anyway, when people first started talking about Cloud being present in Final Fantasy Tactics, other people called them liars. The truth is, though, that Cloud is very much present in FFT, and you can get him as a permanant member of your troops. No one said it would be easy, though, and that's where I come in. The Cloud Subquest is the longest and one of the toughest in the game, but it's well worth completing: If done correctly, you'll gain 4 new permanant members of your party as well as bragging rights on any and all message boards.
To get Cloud Strife in your party permenantly, do the following steps in order. To start off, you must be in the Fourth Chapter. On top of that, Mustadio had better be alive and well or don't even bother going to your first stop, Zeltennia Castle.

Step 1. Zeltennia Castle
Go into the bar and pick rumors. There should be a rumor about the "Cursed Island." After you do that, leave and a new path will open up above Zeltennia. The dot is red, but you can't do anything there just yet; so don't waste your time trying.

Step 2: Zarghidas Trade City
Who is this mysterious flower girl? Could it be... Aeris? I think you'd better buy her flower. After all, it's only 1 Gil, ya cheapskate!

Step 3: Goug Machine City
Like I said, you'd better still have Mustadio in your army, or don't bother coming here, let alone go even further. Anyway, if you haven't neglected to look out for Mustadio, he'll have a breif chat with his father at this point about a steel ball he found during work. It seems to react well to one of your Zodiac Stones...

Step 4: Goland Coal City
It's rumor time again. This time it's the "Ghost of Colliery."

Step 5: Lesalia Imperial Capital
Meet one of the four new characters you'll aquire during your travels for Cloud. This guy's name is Beowulf, and he's one of the best characters you'll get on your team during the whole game. He specializes in status abnormalities, so he's kind of like an Oracle: except he's actually
useful. Just talk with him, and do what he says to get him to join your party.

Step 6: Goland Coal City
If your characters are weak at this point in the game, go level them up some and teach them some of their best abilities, repsectively. As soon as you set foot in Goland Coal City, you'll enjoy partaking in 4 rather difficult battles, without a significant break. In the last battle, you'll find out that Beowulf's joining of your forces was more than a desperate attempt to cure his boredom; Reis the Holy Dragon and Beowulf know each other, and he's not about to just stand around while his friend gets herself pulverized by the monsters that are threatening her life, as well as yours. Should you emerge the winner, you'll recieve a new Zodiac Stone.

Step 7: Goug Machine City
Remember the steel ball? It turns out he's a Steel Giant, capable of making short work of most enemies. He's the second person you'll find yourself watching out for, but be thankful; he's a powerful member of any attack team.

Step 8: Nelveska Temple
Now you can finally do something about that battle area that you opened up at Zeltennia Castle. Get ready, because this one's a tough one. All enemies with the exception of 3 can petrify any one of your characters instantly: a status abnormality that's more than just a little annoying. Take Worker 7 New to school, and you'll gain the last character for your party, not counting Cloud. Her name's Reis (yes, she is the dragon), and it turns out that she's Beowulf's lover; she was trapped in the body of the dragon. Anyhow, she's especially helpful if you've got a dragon or two on your team: most of her abilities relate directly to helping out allied dragons. In the process of gaining Reis, you'll also get another Zodiac Stone.

Step 9: Goug Machine City
Now you'll get your first glance of Cloud. His clothes are a little different, but it's him alright. His natual hot-headedness (which you may remember from FF7) will play a major role in his running off to find a fight. Well, you're not just gonna let him leave, now are you?

Step 10: Zarghidas Trade City
If you haven't beaten up Dycedarg yet, go do that in Igros Castle. Otherwise, head back to Zarghidas Trade City. Cloud stumbles upon Aeris, who's currently being harrassed by some debt-collectors. The nice guy inside Cloud won't stand for it, so he starts a fight: a pretty brave thing to do, considering that he's totally unarmed. Just take out the enemies as quickly as you can so that Cloud won't have to endure too much bodily harm. If you win, you've officially got Cloud. He starts from Level 1, so be warned: it may not be worth raising him all the way up to your characters' current levels. Add to that equation that Cloud's weapon, the Materia Blade, somehow got up on top of Bervenia Volcano. So, you've got to go pick it up for him. Once you've got it, Cloud can learn all of his Limit Breaks from Final Fantasy VII. If you've successfully done all this, then you've got my praise: you've earned it!
