I am very fond of Sakuragi senpai, he is one of the best basketball players that I've seen. His jumps are so impressive that you wouldn't believe me if I tell you how high he can jump, you'll have to see for yourself. I remember the first time we had met, I thought he was a third year basketball player, because he was so tall. He was so strong too, when I said his name wrong, he gave me several head head-butts, it was so painful that I had a headache for two days! It was there when I found out he wasn't actually a third year, but a first year and he knew nothing about basketball too! How can such a tall guy don't know basketball!?
Right from the start I knew he would become an excellent player because basketball isn't just about practicing, you need the talent, yes he is gifted and also a genius, that's why he always calls himself 'tensai'. (tensai = genius) I remember the first time we played Shohoku, it was such an exciting game to watch. Sakuragi Senpai hadn't been as good then because he had only start playing basketball several weeks earlier, but he made me feel that he's even better than me and I've been playing since I was little!
Although Sakuragi Senpai acts silly most of the times, I believe there are strong powers hidden inside him, that even him didn't know about. In their game with Sanon, last year's strongest team, Sakuragi senpai had injured his back really badly, but he kept on playing until the very last moment, and finally they won. That was really brave of him because if he'd injured it a bit more, he wouldn't be able to play basketball anymore. Maybe that's one of his hidden powers? It sounds as if he was born naturally to be a basketball player.
I've heard that Sakuragi senpai had joined the basketball team just because he fell in love with a girl named Haruko, who has an interest in basketball. Fate or what? If it hadn't been Haruko, this famous basketman wouldn't even have existed!
