Well,
it's that time of the year again. A chance for the American Hockey
League's top performers of this year to show off their stuff at
the annual AHL All-Star Classic, which will be taking place in Portland,
Maine. Today, the league announced the Canadian All-Stars |
roster.
Leading the way for the Canadian All-Stars is Manitoba Moose defenseman,
Brian Chapman. The starters include: Benoit Gratton (Hamilton),
Darren Haydar (Milwaukee), Jason Ward (Hamilton), Ray Giroux (Albany),
John Slaney (Piladelphia) and goaltender Mathieu Garon (Hamilton).
Leading PlanetUSA this year are forwards Chris and Peter Ferraro
of Portland. The teams starters include: Niko Dimitrakos (Cleveland),
Matt Herr (Providence), John Pohl (Worcester), Rich Brennan (Providence),
Brian Pothier (Binghamton) and goaltender Phillipe Sauve of Hershey.

Ok,
now time for my thoughts on this years selections, or non-selections.
Where is Maxime Ouellet? I'm not being prejidice here, I simply
cannot see why he was not selected to the all-star game. Maxime
currently ranks 1st in save percentage (0.939), 1st in shutouts
(4) third in goals against average (2.09). Not bad for a team in
7th Place!
Who let the dogs out? I think the entire sqaud of the Hamilton Bulldogs
deserve to be in the all-star classic. Why not have the Bulldogs
vs. the AHL? The dogs are currently 32-5-3-2 and seem virtually
unstoppable. Thanks to a tremendous team effort and solid goaltending
the team is certainly the leading candidate for the Calder Cup. |
