Pets? Pets?? Why are you producing pets, you puppy farmer!!! Clearly you are not an Ultimate Show Breeder, and we will expose you for the Miller you are!
The truth is, there are very few individuals who are not Ultimate Show Breeders that are responsible enough to properly care for one of our special creatures. The reason millers mutilate their animals, cutting out dewclaws, snipping ears, speutering shortly after birth, is because they know a pet owner isn't responsible enough to trim nails, clean ears, feed or even make their dogs stay in their own backyards!
The Backyard Breeder just doesn't care.
We do.
The greeder happily mutilates to make money, while the Ultimate Show Breeder is a responsible breeder and therefore simply doesn't produce pets. Each breeding by the Ultimate Show Breeder is carefully crafted after years of research and study. Bitches are not mated until they have passed the age where all testable diseases can be detected (usually well into middle age) and the mating is usually done to a close relative. The result is Quality, not Quantity.
Litters by the Ultimate Show Breeder are usually 1 - 3 live puppies, less in smaller breeds. These puppies are delicate and sensitive, true shining stars for the next show season. Each little life has to be carefully fanned. Each litter requires round the clock attentions by the breeder, with her intensive care nurse's cap on! From the moment of the c-section until the puppies are weaned, their every progress is made with the assistance of the breeder. Whether it is bottle feeding, turning every 2 hours, giving physical therapy, stimulating elimination or all the millions of little cares puppies need, the breeder saves wear and tear on the mother dog by doing everything for her.
We are not raising stay-at-home moms! No, our girls are top models and must live the life of the runway superstar.
The extremes of conformation and structure achieved by constant progression toward the Ideal dog means the newborns are exceptionally weak and frail, often unable to nurse from the mother and must be bottlefed and given intense physical therapy .
So as you can see, these exquisite creatures that the Ultimate Show Breeder has poured her heart and soul, indeed the very breath of life into, are worthy only of the best the show ring can offer. Each one is an improvement to the breed, and none are worthy of being thrown away.
Some ask how we can care so much, to which we always reply the very moral centers of our beings will not allow us to do less for our wonderful breeds. It is our sworn duty to protect them. And, their excited faces and demeanors coupled with our glowing sense of pride when the judge calls "Best in Show" makes it all worthwhile |
