Kelia Nimblefingers vs. Kulgarr
"Please give a warm welcome to our newest combatant, Kelia Nimblefingers!!", Ultrann bellows to the crowd. Some cheers come forth, but many would rather wait to see what she can prove. The dimunitive halfling woman is intent to prove that she is a champion. "Let's hope for an unclean match between the cunning half-orc and the dimunitive spellcaster!", laughs Ultrann. "BEGIN!"
The scarred half-orc suddenly appears in front of the north gate. A second or two later, the blue-eyed halfling appears in front of the west gate. Kulgarr, despite his size, reacts first, running towards his diminutive opponent before stopping and launching an arrow. The arrow strikes hard and true, piercing through the hobbit's right shoulder. She lets out a blood-curdling yell. Kulgarr laughs, "You will die a slow death, puny one!". Despite her agony, she stumbles forward towards the middle of the arena and begins mumbling some words. An instant later, she is nowhere in sight!
Kulgarr, angry, yells "Show yourself, midget!!" He takes just a few steps towards the spot where his prey disappeared, and fires off an arrow. It sails southward, striking no target. He hears some more words being muttered softly, but Kelia is still nowhere in sight.
Frustrated but determined, Kulgarr inches towards where his opponent was last seen, listening intently. He notices that a couple tiny droplets of blood are falling from mid-air. Realizing that his opponent is somehow airborne, he laughs an evil laugh and fires an arrow into the air near where he is standing. However, it does not hit anything, and sails down 60 feet to the east. The crowd wants action, as some boos erupt from the westernmost stands.
A faint murmur of words is heard, and Kulgarr fires another arrow into the air, to no avail. He decides to wait, with bow cocked and ready. "Show yourself, you spineless goblin-dropping!", he yells. A few murmured words are heard, and suddenly Kelia appears about 25 feet almost directly above Kulgarr! While he is ready, so is she. He fires off an arrow which sticks into the diminutive mage's right leg. At the same instant, she manages to fire two magical bolts, striking Kulgarr squarely in the chest, causing searing pain. "Eat that, scarface!", she taunts. The crowd starts getting excited...
Kelia sees Kulgarr cursing as he looks at his bow with an arrow in hand. She notices that his bowstring is broken. She laughs, saying "I'll show you and everyone else here that I am the toughest halfling mage in the land!" With that, she fires off two more magical bolts that Kulgarr simply cannot avoid. He is hurting a lot, but with two solid arrow strikes, so his she. A split second later, still levitating about 25 feet up, she draws a thin blue and white stick from her boot.
Kelia begins mumbling words of magic as her want begins to glow a magical white colour. Just before the magic is released, she is suddenly shocked to see that the bowstring was not broken, but merely had a second fake string attached. With lightning speed he fires off his arrow towards the mage. It strikes her square in the chest as two small orbs of white coldness fly towards Kulgarr. In his wounded state, he is unable to dodge their deadly cold. Both strike him solidly in the chest, and he collapses. Kelia lets out a shortened laugh, as blood oozes from her mouth. She drops from the air, landing with a tiny thud. She too lies motionless, as the medics race out onto the Arena floor.
The stadium resounds with cheers and boos. Ultrann stands up and claps, praising the two fallen warriors. "What, was I one of the only few to place money on a tie?!" Smiling, he watches the healers work their magic...
