Ming was born in 1868 into a poor family in Kobe. Unable to properly care for their child, Ming was put into a school that trained children to become Geisha. Ming learned well and was ready to serve at the Rokumeikan when it opened. At the Rokumeikan's first big social event, the Japanese were entertaining visitors from America and Britian. One of the Americans (a Naval officer) spoke to Ming about the greatness of America, and how it was different from Japan. At that point, Ming discovered she wanted to see the world. Ming quickly made arrangements to stow away on a merchant vessel leaving Japan. She eventually made her way to San Fransisco where she began her new life. |

Ever since arriving in America, Saburo Ming has lived by the moment, doing anything to get money so she can see more of the world. Her profession could best be described as a con-artist or hustler. |

Ming is short by European standards (5'1") and petite, with olive colored skin. Depending on what she is doing and where she is, she can be found wearing anything from a proper evening dress, to cow-girl pants and blouse, to a traditional kimono. Most white folk can't tell asians apart, so they are just as likely to think she is Chinese or Siamese as anything else. Ming plays this to the hilt by menuvering men to do what she wants by being quiet, small and seemingly servile. |
