History

The colony ship Endeavor was sent to 70 Ophiuchi in 2083 after astronomers confirmed the existance of an exceptionally large and dense asteroid belt. Endeavor was funded by a consortium of Austrailian corporations, as well as the Austrailian government. The official idea was that a cut of the mineral profits be used to reimburse the original capital costs over the course of centuries. Off most records, the conception and construction of the mammoth Endeavor colony craft began 25 years earlier, near the end of the First Aberrant War as insurance for the survival of the human species.

Endeavor and its crew of 40,000 left for the multi-decade long voyage to Ophiuchi. Only 10% were awake at any given time, with the remaining crew kept in suspended animation. In 2118, the Upeo were able to locate and contact the colony ship. The two groups worked out a way to speed up Endeavor's voyage. By 2130, Endeavor was safely in orbit around 70 Ophiuchi.

Description of Colony

The Ophiuchi colony mainly consists of Endeavor, the largest colony ship ever built. With a length of three kilometers, and two rings nearly two kilometers in diameter, Endeavor is nearly the equal of the largest of humanity's space stations. Because of the lack of a habitable planet, uncertainty of their destination, and the length of her voyage, Endeavor was built to be able to sustain 40,000 colonists for over a century. She contains farms, factories, mineral processing equipment, schools, parks, and the enormous engines used to power her on her voyage.

Endeavor is governed as a democracy where the citizens vote via ship's computer. Her president, Captain Teressa Colins, acts as the visible leader.
