Background |

Trip has a cut mark scar on his right cheek, and has lost all the hair on the right side of head. There has been follicle damage, making hair growth impossible. He generally wears a partial wig. |
Trip Farmer grew up in the Napersville annex of the Chicago archalogy. He graduated with honors and accepted a full scholarship with Brant Industries. He followed his high school girlfriend to the hallowed halls of Illinois Tech. He never graduated, though, and would drop out after three years. His scholastic disinterest could be attributed partially to the breakup with his girlfriend and also due to a growing disillusionment with his studies due to corporate sponsorship... However, his scholarship left him with a commitment to Brant. He was forced into a two year stint as a corporate drone; spending a year in the mailroom before commuting his sentence into the FSM. After basic training, he entered the infantry and was assigned to a garrison in the Zone. He was unlucky enough to see some action during an aberrant touchdown, and received some scaring on his head and face due to a taint-based acidic attack. The manufacturer of his company’s helmets was under investigation for possible equipment failure, and sponsored him for OS training and a commission as part of a settlement. As a new lieutenant, he returned to his Chicago home as part of a peacekeeping garrison. He would work hand in hand with Orgotech Soon after his promotion to Captain, Trip met Meanwhile, tensions were building between the FSA and China, resulting in some troop movement as part of a military buildup. Trip had never been thrilled with his military service; having served five years Trip and Adeline grew apart over the upcoming year, and finally she left him for a lawyer she had met. He maintained dual custody of his daughter, but would cut this down to no visitations over the next two years. He slobbed around for another year before he was approached by Cameron Assat, an old friend from Orgotech. Cameron represented a group of former Trip spent the next month refamiliarizing himself with the military skill set he had left behind for a while, and coming to terms with the possibility of finally being the master of his own destiny. He and the group were able to operate as a team of troubleshooters for hire, their various contacts taking them around the world. Trip loved this lifestyle of a few days work surrounded by an ocean of downtime. He started playing the piano more frequently, and started drinking heavier, although his drinking was more recreational than sorrowful... He was seeing more action than his military career ever served up, and was good at what he was doing. Still, Trip’s peaceful nature shown through in his appreciation of the calms before the storms. Trip disagreed with the group’s growing preference for bigger, more long-term jobs. A four month mercenary stint in Eastern Europe crystalized this. When the group decided to take a job on Mars, Trip Trip is a very skilled amateur on the piano and the harmonica; and will break out the mouthharp if he’s alone long enough and doesn’t have anything to drink. He has a huge collection of blues music files, with a Trip drinks and smokes more than he should, but at his heart is an adolescent that’s just happy to be alive at 33. |

Trip's VARG: The Cricket is so named because of the British pilot that originally owed it. The power plant ran so smooth that "it's all Cricket", or so his words went. Trip wants to rename it The Folton after Johnny Cash; he'll do so the next time he needs to replace the left thigh armor, the last place remaining with the name embossed on it. The VARG is a Grevex model with an omega flight pack. It is a level three evice, Trip has upgraded all the response systems with modern technology to improve the response time. In addition, the power output has been boosted to provide a longer flight range. Trip carries a modified Voss33K laser pistol named Rosy. He has finely tuned its weight and balance to give +1 accuracy (although it is -1 for any non-Trip users). Furthermore, he has modified it such that it can be tuned to fire an IR laser beam. An IR laser has half the range and damage as a normal shot, but is nearly undetectable (does not ionize the air like normal lasers). Trip has also added a holographic sight which provides the benefit of a scope for aimed shots, but weighs next to nothing. Finally, Trip has anodized the case of the laser to be shiny silver with flames coming up the side. Trip Farmer never leaves the house without his reinforced jacked (0/2) and ear radio. |

Contacts |

Cameron Assat: Electrokinetic, former Orgotek, lured away from the company by lucrative freelance offers. He's the Face of Trip's old group; not a master of disguise, but a great planner and charismatic leader. He's not terribly scrupulous, but a pretty good guy. Jeremy Obibanee: Psychokenetic, former Legionnaire, of Trip's old group. One of the best pilots working freelance, not to mention he's able to fly biofighters. Comes off as kind of a screwup, dropping the ball every once and a while due to laziness or, to hear him tell it, bad luck. Still, really together, competent, and disarmingly friendly. Sarah Brevis: Electrokinetic, former Orgotek, of Trip's old group. Sarah is not autistic in a medical sense, but in the descriptive sense in regards to her inability to articulate herself. She was fired from Orgotek after blowing too many deadlines, but is a natural genius and psi talent. She'd consider herself a better guitar player than telemechanic, but that doesn't bring home the bacon. Andy Stalowski: former army officer, DDR, of Trip's old group. An experienced mercenary, she had friends all over the planet, every place a war had spread up. She was the only one of the old group that could be counted on never to shit themselves. no matter what. Rob Moale: Teleporter, former Upeo, of Trip's old group. Not the brightest bulb around, Trip grew to like him eventually even though they didn't have much in common. Trip never figured out if he was really amazingly popular with women or if he just had an indiscriminate palate. Adeline Trenton: Trip's ex wife and last significant relationship. He's moved on in earnest, he just came out of the marriage too disillusioned to work the dating scene with much earnesty anymore. Adeline probably still lives in Chicago and might still teach. Trip doesn't know, he left all that behind when he left for New Orleans. He even skipped out on child support, but then again that lawyer she was with last he checked seemed capable of footing the bill. Christina Trenton: Trip's adoptive daughter. There's no biological tie, but Trip was there in the delivery room when she was born and a loving parent for the first three years of her life. She's seven years old now. The Red Bean: The New Orleans bar that Trip lived in for a year or two. Damon Weiss is the manager there, and the greatest bartender in the world besides. The bar has a small but dedicated patronage from all over Burgundy Street, many of them will remember Trip's face. Matildas: Trip's favorite bar in Australia. Hilton James is the owner, he and Trip have become friends. Cat's Sleazy Bar: Trip's old hangout from Chicago; he heard that Jimmy Rodden, the guy that used to run the place, got shot in a robbery last year. He hasn't been back in a while. Maggie Jessop: An old army buddy from the FSM days, Trip has kept up with her over the years, even after he turned merc. She made it up to Lt. Colonel, heading up a sub-orbital VARG assault squad (the 82nd, Fighting Bluebirds) these days. She's a total professional, and knows Trip well enough to cut him slack she wouldn't allow to others; after all, it's pretty clear Trip's heart was never in the military, so he's not disgracing much by going freelance. Larry Loujack: Trip has a few stories about what a huge jerk this guy is, they butted heads all the time in Chicago. There's no real burning animosity between the two now, but both would get a big laugh if they heard the other bought it. Frankly, Trip's not even sure that Loujack's still in the service, but the guy seemed like a lifer. |
