Description |
|
|
History has many examples of technology used to enhance the capability of the individual soldier. Although not the most powerful VARG (even for its size), the Avenger is cheap enough and easy to make such that larger numbers of troops can be outfitted with it. Avenger's are small enough to operate in close urban enviornments and can be used as heavy support for infantry, or light support for heavy VARGs. The basis of the Avenger is the support frame. This is a skeletal structure that is fitted to the individual soldier (there is some adjustability). This skeleton provides the control interface and the mechanical muscle needed to operate the Avenger. Around this frame is layered ceramic and metal-fiber armor. The end result is slightly larger then a man in heavy full plate armor (adds about a foot to height). Most of the controls are based off of the soldier's personal movements (move your leg and the suit's leg moves). The onboard computer can learns to interpret each wearer's movements, so it becomes more maneuverable the longer it is worn. Other controls are operated vocally, or though a keyboard concealed on the left arm. The Avenger has found a lot of use in the armies of the FSA. A special company of elite "Golden Boys" - Avengers with Olmanium armor (6[5])- has been deployed to Mexico to deal with ongoing conflicts there. |
