Description |
The Leviathan is a large biotech ship, over a kilometer long (apx. 1.2 km) and weighing 320,000 tons dry weight. Seventy percent of the Leviathan consists of a gigantic biological computer of dazzling complexity - the Tesser. It is this componant, with the help of a clairsentient pilot, that allows the vessel to "jump" from one location to another - currently the only method for interstellar transportation other then using Upeo or Star Crossed porters. The Leviathan carries less cargo then its size would imply. It relies on externally docked craft to perform the bulk of its missions, whether they be cargo, exploration or military. The Leviathan is merely a quick way to travel to the stars. |

History |
The Leviathan concept was born in 2115 as a response to the disappearance of the Upeo Wa Macho (the teleporting order). Originally titled Project V37E, the jumpship program was championed by Orgosoft Farms CEO Jennifer Lehoczky. Designing the Leviathan was a massive undertaking. It required the talents of nearly every available psi-order, every leftover teleporter bioapp and the assistance of the Qin. Facilities for the giant biotech matricies that would build the Leviathans were constructed in secret on the moon. The first jumpship development platform Mazat was destroyed by the aberrant known as the Colony in 2119 - just a few months prior to the launch of a prototype vessel. Luckily, a secret facility was built under Mare Ingenii in anticipation of just such an attack. The first Leviathan (JS-1 Leviathan) was completed at the Mare Ingenii yards in late 2119, but failed to execute its first jump due to tesser malfunctions. The first successful jump was performed by JS-2 [Yi] at the end of 2119. Both Orgotek and the Guild have tried to improve on the Leviathan design, but have been unable to. In fact, without additional Qin aid, neither group has gotten much further even understanding the tesser. For some reason, the Qin seem to be unwilling to further tesser technology or to explain its fundementals to any human agency. JS-1 Leviathan - currently missing since 2121 JS-4 Ananda - currently serving the Qin system, operated by the Guild JS-5 Europa - operated by the Guild JS-6 Svaha - currently serving the Khantze Le Ge system, operated by the Guild JS-7 Himalaya - operated by the Guild JS-8 Mae de Ceu - currently serving the Averigueas system, operated by the Guild JS-9 Meroe - currently serving the Far Nyumba system, operated by the Guild JS-10 Chicago - operated by the UN JS-11 Bolivar - destroyed over Khantze Le Ge 2124 JS-12 Shaka - currently serving the Karoo system, operated by the Guild JS-13 Aegypt - operated by the Guild JS-14 Kalikanaasi - destroyed over Oriabi Pueblo 2123 JS-15 Kohl - destroyed by Coalition 2121 JS-16 Pandora - destroyed by Coalition 2121 JS-17 Kowloon - owned by the PRC, serves the Yangtse colony JS-18 Pesce' - owned by Brasil JS-19 Kenyatta - owned by UAN, serves the Zanzania colony JS-20 Zang - owned by ABI corporation JS-21 Tanaka - owned by ICE corporation JS-22 Elvis - operated by the Guild JS-23 Ellayne - owned by Orgotek corporation JS-24 New Orleans - owned by FSA JS-25 Exodus- owned by the Vatican |
