Orgotek C-120 Manta Biocraft |

Description |
The Manta is a medium cargo hybrid designed to fit nearly any mission profile. It is extremely rugged - designed to withstand the punishment of asteroid mining or frequent planetfalls. It has a lot of thrust allowing it to perform fast short and long range missions, as well as provide the power to support modifications owners will no doubt subject it to. The Manta is nearly a fully biological spacecraft. All Manta have biotech hulls, avionics, computers, power supply and life support. The standard version has hardtech engines and weaponry. Recently, Orgotek has made a "full bio" version. This sports less efficient biotech engines (but still hardtech weaponry). The Manta has cabins for six crew members, and a common lounge and mess that incorporates grav crystals (although only to 0.8g), all located on the upper deck. The lower deck is mainly occupied by the single cargo bay. This is a 35x24x4 meter compartment with a forward facing drop ramp (for easy loading and unloading). Engineering and systems are located on the port and starboard sides by the engines. |

History |
Work on the Manta design began in 2122 - shortly after the attack on the Chromatic homeworld of Chrome-Prime. Orgotek was on the forefront of research into the Chromatics, both as a race of beings and as a society. As a corporation, they used their access to Chromatic DNA and biotechnology to create new patents on biotechnology (a practice that corporate lawyers are still arguing about). One of these patents - a DNA sequence based on the Chromatic's transport craft - became the basis for the Manta. From its inception, Orgotek strove to make a rugged fullly biotech spacecraft that could compete with any and all hardtech craft. Unfortunately, biotech engine design (even the best ones) have not caught up with hardtech designs yet. Because of this, the Manta was released in two versions. One incorporates hardtech engines whereas the other does not. It was believed that although the fully biotech version did not perform quite as well as the other, some buyers would prefer it due to its lower maintainance requirements. |

s denotes standard variant, b denotes full biotech variant Formatting a pilot to the ship adds +2 to handling rolls. Formatting a sensor operator to the ship adds +2 to sensor rolls. In the full-biological version, formatting an engineer to the vessel adds +2 to repair rolls and speeds self-healing to every turn. VT: HybridTech: Bio Crew: 2 Cabins: 6 (standard - some variants have more) Cargo: 3,500 cumets CS: Mach 2 TS: Mach 2.5 VS: s- 5, b- 3 Handling: +1 Mass: 200 Cost: 9 Armor: 4 [10] Weapons: (2) Turreted Medium Laser Cannon (Acc +2, Dam 6d10[5]L) Other: Biotech repair. Like Chromatic vessels, the Manta can self-repair minor damage. The first three structural damage levels can be self-healed at one every other turn. Doing so reduces the VS of the craft by 1 (strain on the engines). In the standard version, this cannot heal engines (but can heal the power system). In either version, this cannot repair weaponry (as it is hardtech). |
