Reno Unlimited Racers

Jake Kessler's Air Racer Lollipop II

Description

Reno racers are exeptionally agile atmospheric craft designed to push the limits of pilots and machines while navigating the challenging Reno pylon course. By race regulations, they must have no more then two engines, run off of aircraft grade alcohol fuel and have no computerized avionics. After that, additional regulations depend on the class of racer. This can range from specific standardized designs (as in the "Kit" class), rigid weight and power limits (as in the "Pro-Am" class), specific propulsion types (as in the "Piston" class) or no additional limits (as in the "Unlimited" Class).

History

The most popular classes include Kit, Pro-Am, Reno Classic, Piston, Limited and Unlimited (the most popular).

From 2118 to 2120, the Unlimited class trophy was held by veteran pilot Jake Kessler. His retirement was forced in 2120 when his racer Lollipop II knicked a pylon and crashed into the tarmac. Most of Kessler's records were broken in 2121 by Lin Teal (flying the Anarch), Reno's first psion pilot (although the records were not verified until 2123). Teal's records still stand today.
