Orgotek EA-30 Triop |

Description |
|
|
The Triop has sensors and communications gear as powerful as a frigate. It was designed to coordinate and correlate the information received from other friendly ships in order to maintain an effective command net. It also utilizes communications and electronics jammers at a military level. This equipment is accurate enough to direct the missiles it carries, having the capability to re-acquire targets in mid-flight. The secret to the power of the Triop's sensors are the banks of advanced biological processors. Basically a super parallel bio-computer, these processors can interpret and correllate the information from the ship's sensors and squeeze the greatest amount of information out of them. Unlike a standard fighter, the Triop was designed with endurance missions in mind. It has two cabins that can sleep four of the six person crew at a time, as well as personal facilities and cargo space to support missions up to a week in length. With enough armor to survive a direct missile hit and the offensive power of two heavy coilguns, the Orgotek Triop Gunboat is a powerful addition to any fleet. Over the years, many variants of the Triop have been built. The EA-30B replaced the missile bay with three sensor torpedoes - semi-autonomous sensor craft controlled by the Triop that extend the range and clarity of its sensors. The EA-30C was modified for extreme long range detection. It has the ability to deploy a 100 meter antennae array (only in space) that is used for long range detection of EM signals. This setup is perfect for intercepting communications or signals from other sensors. A recent variant, the E-30, carries no weapons. Instead, it has a large experimental neutrino / tachyon sensor system. The tactical uses of this sensor are very limited, but it is very effective at detecting objects at extreme long ranges in real-time (neutrinos travel faster then light). There is also an AEW-30 version that replaces the sensors with electronic warfare equipment. This version can fire EM-disruptor rounds out of its 100mm coilguns. |

With the Aberrant threats of the 2120's, the need arose for a small spacecraft that could be attached to the defensive complement of a planet, station, or ship. This craft would need powerful sensors and a communication suite that would enable it to act as additional eyes and ears, with enough armor and weaponry to survive a direct assault from multiple hostiles. Orgotek realized this need and unveiled the Triop class Gunboat. The Triop was mainly purchased by the UAN and AU space forces. They first saw action during the attack on Chrome-Prime. EA-30As were used as screening vessels for the frigates and helped coordinate fighter and anti-missile maneuvers. They also helped pinpoint precision strikes on the Chromatic's biotech facilities. Rumors exists of special "noetic field detection" versions of the Triop. Grainy pictures of something near Mars resembles a Triop with larger "feelers" and a larger tail. Dubbed the AN-30 Skorpion, it has been claimed it exists in the private fleets of Aeon, Orgotek, the Legions, and even the Norca. Other rumors include that the AN-30 is used to hunt down psions or latents, that the craft has no human crew, or that the Qin stole the bio-matrix and have produced a human-hunting vehicle of their own. |

The pilot, gunner and sensor operators can be formatted to their stations to add +2 to each device’s operation. Psions formatted to the Triop's sensors have the range of their sensory powers extended as if their psi was three dots higher. The following are the stats for the EA-30A Triop. VT: Hybrid Tech: Bio Crew: 6 (two pilots, one gunner, one engineer, two electronics officers) Cabins: 2 Cargo: 1,000 cumets CS: 400 Mph TS: Mach 1 VS: 3 Handling: +0 Sensor: +5 Mass: 105 Cost: Not available commercially Armor: 4 [10] Weapons: (2) Medium Coilguns (Acc +2, Dam 7d10[10]L) Other: Advanced missile fire control system ("feelers") and (biotech!) sensors. Some variants replace the missile bay with (3) sensor pods for intelligence for survey duty. |
