For The Love Of The Game
Sam Raimi doing a romance?  Oh, add baseball drama to that too.  An aging baseball star (Kevin Costner) pitching against time, flashback on the romance of his one true love (Kelly Preston) on what went right and wrong.  Touching and realistic, almost as good as Bull Durham.   ***(out of 4 stars) 9/29/99

Fight Club
A sad disguise of facism in covering up a pathetic attempt of destroying capitalism.  This movie have no remorse or redemption in explaning the purpose of fight club.  Two strangers (Brad Pitts & Edward Norton) met by chance and was bored in their everyday life.  To spruce up their life, they build Fight Club to enrichen their lives. It tried too hard to make a statement.  In the end, it's too hard to stomach.  Oh, it has a kicker in the movie in explaning two headed monsters.  LOL.

Double Jeopardy
No, it's not the second round of the popular TV show, but rather the title of a movie based on rarely used law that prohibits a convicted criminal of being charge & convicted on a same exact crime.  A happy go lucky wife (Ashley Judd) finds herself innocent of a murder she didn't commit.  She broke out of her halfway house after her parole from harden life in prison looking to kill her husband (still alive).  Tommy Lee Jones is her parole officer pursing her (similiar role from
The Fugitive).  It's not bad of an entertainment, but the movie does not hold up to what the title had promised us.  **(out of 4 stars) 11/20/99

Three Kings
Three soldiers (George Clooney, Ice Cube, and Mark Whalberg) set up to find the missing loot held by Sadam Hussein's soldiers during the Persian Gulf War.  After they find the treasure, they had a change of heart in helping the locals be set free from the hands of the rebel soldiers.  It's a very political movie with some jabs at the Bush Administration in their decision of non-involvement during the Persian Gulf War.

House On Haunted Hill

A boring and not so convincing remake of a popular horror film.  Not worth watching at all.

The Bone Collector
A gripping suspense/drama about a paralyized forensic expert helping the NYPD tracked down a sadistic unknown serial killer.  With the aid of an attentive traffic cop (Angelina Jolie), the killer and the forensic expert met at a climatic showdown.  Not bad of a thriller in reminisicence of
Seven.   ***(out of 4 stars) 11/20/99

The Insider
The inside look of the controversial "60 Minutes" segment which involves an ex-exec (Russell Crowe) revealing that nicotine was increase in tobacco.  The producer (Al Pacino) of the tv news show races to get the segment aired faced with many obstacles by the tobacco industries in preventing his efforts.  A compelling drama with some great performances.

007-The World Is Not Enough

The 18th series of James Bond as the world's most famous spy.  This time Bond (Pierce Brosnan) must uncovered the reasons why a kidnapper (Robert Caryle) wants to help a heiress (Sophie Marceau) in bombing oil pipes.  There's of course with some support from a nuclear scientist (Denise Richards) as the next Bond Girl.  An ordinary story with no real new suspense or ideas.
