Constructed in the United States to the Chilean Navy, the Horacio was acquired by the Imperial Government during the campaign against Artigas (1816-1818) and was incorporated to the fleet with the name of Maria da Gloria, paying homage to the princess Maria, daughter of prince D.Pedro. | ||||||||||
It main features the maneuverability and speed. In the campaign against the Portuguese the ship took place in the epic combat of May 4, 1823. Due to bad conditions the ship did not pursuit the fleeing squadron of the Portuguese fleet in July. On the Cisplatine waters the vessel was engaged in the Battle of Lara-Quilmes and in the escort of convoys. She was retired from service in 1832 | ||||||||||
