| The above depicted officer of Florida Batallion colonel Leon Palleja was one of the most famous and bravest soldiers that took part in the war. Palleja was known both for his ferocity in combat and lack of self care by leading attacks in the vanguard of his batallion or positioning himself at the rear in retreats. His death in combat in 1866 brought great sorrow to the Allied Army. |
