Grenadier - Campaign against Spain, 1824.

The French influence in the designs of the Peruvian Army uniforms was a commonplace during the XIX century. The above depicted soldier took part in the the second phase of the campaign against Spain, when the Peruvians were under command of Simon Bolivar. At the battle of Junin, fought on August 6th, 1824 the Peruvian Army achieved a major victory against Spanish Forces ,sealing the destiny of the long period of Spanish domain on South America.
