| Daman & Diu |
On the edge of the southern borders of Gujarat state, lies the Union Territory
of Daman and Diu. It was a colony held by the Portuguese for a long time,
even after India gained its independence. In 1961, it was made an integral
part of India and was a part of the erstwhile Union Territory of Goa, Daman
and Diu. After statehood was conferred on Goa on 30 May 1987, Daman and
Diu was made a separate Union Territory.
